View Full Version : The best you saw this week.
Watched Cure again last night, directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa.
What a great movie this is, very dark and hypnotic thiller/horror from the director of Kairo (one of the best horror movies ever made).
I need to track down his other movies especially Seance and Charisma.
5 out of 5 :)

It was a busy week DVDing, but Infernal Affairs, will take the nod as best of the week, with some honourable mentions going to Lantana and Amelie
I too watched Lantana recently, this is my fave Aussie film and i have enjoyed it more each time i watch it.
And i reckon the Paul Kelly soundtrack is superb.

Yeah the soundtrack is excellent. I just wish I had seen the film sooner...
People complain about how every film from Australia is about yobbo's.. They obviosly didn't venture far to see this great drama, all the other ones out there, like Australian Rules..

She might convince you to see Dekalog aswell, and then you can tell us if it is good or not

My best for the week goes easily to Good bye, lenin!,who would have thought a german movie could be so freakin great at takin the p!ss.One can only imagine what an uproar this caused in germany with an outsider like me probably missing all the in jokes but still marvelling at how clever this film is.Daniel Brühl is the star of the show playing his role of a loving son who tells a white lie to his mother to protect her health. He finishes up having to go to extrordinary lengths to keep the lie alive but he is always convincing in his commitment to her.Looking forward to owning this on dvd :)

Best film I have seen this week??? It would Def be the Re-done version of The Italian Job . Never boring or silly, this is a 100 mins of fun and action- I have seen the original(Michael Caine) but it was a while ago(will have to track this down at some stage and re-visit this also).

Yeah it's not a bad film... I don't think it will count as a remake either, as the films are totally different -- just same name.. Would have been nice though if they came up with an original name for the film....

Freddy v Jason - thought it was good, not as good as the old Elm Streets. Can't comment on Friday 13th, never seen any of them.

The Fridays naturally go down hill, by 6 was good... but they need to released uncut.. 7 was very lame, but if the death scenes were restored it'd be cool.
This is probably sad by I have all the Freddy, Halloween (except 3 which doesnt exist in my book) and the Fridays.... I must have a strange fetish for shit sequals.
