I watched Runaway Bride....... I think it was the 1st movie I got from a friend when I bought my DVD player, I agree with Julia Roberts when she says " everyone should get married on a week day while everyones at work " yeah for sure who needs all the fuss. But a good relaxing movie with no sex or swearing ( strange but true ) lol

I just watched Brotherhood of the wolf...

Overall I found it very entertaining, and I really couldnt stop watching. Although I must say that the effects were really bad, and there were parts of the story which I thought would have been been made a whole lot better had the story taken a slightly different direction (dont want to give anything away) I convinced myself though that this was due to it being a "traditional story" or something, abut I really have no idea whether or not thats the case.

I watched it in English language, due to the fact that for some reason my ps2 decided it didnt like the french sound track.

Well worth a look anyways.

Well it's not the end of the week till sunday and i still have 3 new ones to watch this weekend but there gonna have to be good to beat the best so far.Given that "The sacrifice"might just be one of the best movies i've ever seen in my life it looks pretty safe to survive till sunday :D.For anyone out there that loved the 3 colors trilogy then you should seek out a copy of the sacrifice asap.
The 3 contenders i have left to watch are "The hunted","Color of the truth" and "Dolls".

Best I saw this week would probably be The Angel Collection I bought off dvd drifter in Swapmeet.

Expecting it to be pretty average 80's trash [due to never hearing of it and the fact it was in swapmeet for almost a month!], I surprisingly really enjoying them all. Sure, they were 80's trash, but there were many quirky characters [including a really cool old cowboy turned pimp and a guy who dressed as a woman who reminded me of Tsargrad!] and ended up watching all three on thursday.

I'd rather be the shemale than the cowboy.

Best this week is difficult. At this stage I will opt for Fargo SE. Mind you I just went ballistic in K-Mart buying stuff, so maybe time permitting Rocky can knock it off...

I did watch something else as good as Fargo - but I don't exactly remember what (so it cannot have been too memorable)

Just watched "Bowling for Comubine".

After reading the Mike Moore book "Stupid White Men" I found this a really interesting watch. Brings up some really good issues in persuit of answers as to why America is such a violent society, and why they go around shooting each other SO much more often then any other western society. (11500 odd shooting deaths per year as opposed to 65 in Australia). One of the things that came out of the movie for me was a similarity between one of the conclusions drawn about possible reasons, ie the sense of fear instilled in Americans by their "elected" government, which is exactly how Australia is moving under the current government.

Anyway, politics aside, a very worthwhile watch that I would recommend highly.

 Ooooh deags, dont mention the "P" word,i mentioned it once but i think i got away with it ;) .I would say you've made a very accurate observation there though:cool: .Even more ironic is that the fear policys evolved from a certain person in jail for 3 years and they have pursued to destroy said person after adopting the policy."Dirty deeds done dirt cheap" :dD

I change my vote, I forgot I watched The Two Towers last Monday evening.. That was the best, but Fargo and Y Tu Mama Tambien take out the next 2 positions.

Best this week on r4 is hard to determine - three way tie between Fargo ,The Right Stuff and the uncut version of Once Upon a Time in America. All impressive in different ways - the Coens' least flamboyant film; the Mercury space program told with both authenticity and humour as well as an ironic notion of modern American heroism; a gangster epic mood piece about immigrant experience.
On a r1, I was surprised by how well A Man Called Horse stands up as an unusual western with an emphasis on Sioux culture and how a captive white man grows to honour it. The surprisingly respectful film finds beauty in arguable savagery for a complex look at a different lifestyle.

Yeah it wasn't bad - nice supporting characters as mentioned but what struck me most about the first two films in particular was the positive way it treats these street people, with a genuine fondness for them that is truly far removed from the usual nihilistic despair of much so-called exploitation from the 80s.

Cider House Rules, bloody excellent. The first time I watched this I thought it was ok that was a few years ago, so I decided to give it another watch and this time I was amazed at how much this film got to me. Do yourself a favour and watch this.
