Spirited Away

This was bloody amazing. The only previous animated outing I have had with Japanese film is Ghost In The Shell which I found boring, but Spirited Away was an absolutely beautiful film. I definitely recommend the Limited Edition release from the AV Channel. Should be good exploring the extras in the upcoming days

I put Meet Joe Black on the other day to watch, I love the movie ( a sucker for romance ) but I do find the voices are way to soft in the movie I have to have it very loud. Then I have to remember to turn the volume down when switching over to TV, but I forget sometimes and gee I notice it. :rolling:

The TV series 24.

Took a risk as a blind purchase but well worth it and extremely satisfying now I've seen all of season one.

The best film out of this week's viewing batch (r4) for me was Cool Hand Luke - exceptional 1967 anti-hero / anti-establishment prison film, with that classic line "what we have here is a failure to communicate" (heard it sampled in a song a while back). Film deserves a special edition but probably won't get it.

Well it has been another week, and what was the best DVD I watched. Well I do not recall watching much at all this week. But the most enjoyable would probably be the Cricket World Cup Highlights DVD. Great stuff seeing some of those performances for the first time, sometimes 2nd time.

Vaas and his hat-trick was bloody sensational, the two dutchmen reaching centuries in the same game. The emotion on them at doing so, the spirit - this is what cricket is about. (stay tuned for the review)

Slow week for me this week. Out of the latest batch, the highlight was a classic sci-fi The Day the Earth Stood Still - for those who remember the Cold War perhaps.
Finally got around to seeing a Region 1 DVD acquired through these forums - Phantasm - silly perhaps, but on one level an intriguing look at a teenage boy's fear of abandonment and his uncertainty over the possibility of an afterlife.

Is a week up yet?:p I saw adaptation last night and i recon it's the best new release movie i've seen since donnie darko. It's not a movie for everyone though, you have to be in tune with the spike jonze dark quirky world. If you are in tune with that world then strap yourself in for the ride:) .If you liked being john malkovich and your a fan of the cohen bros movies/todd solondz movies then get this NOW!
