Spot on. Just dispute the transaction and provide your card issuer with a
copy of your notice to the merchant that they were no longer authorised.
Last year I joined a mob called "square trade" which is supposed to
provide credibility to Ebay sellers and make people feel safer about
buying something they have never examined over the Internet.
OK so I originally took a 30 day free trial and then a 1 year
subscription. My last amex bill showed a $130 debit from these people I
never authorised and they never bothered to tell me they were taking.
I notified Amex that it was an unauthorised debit. The firm later sent
me a message telling me they had refunded the debit.
Their parent company is Ebay. I had been selling goods on Ebay and they
had debited my card for the 'fees'. After this carry on and the $600 I
got charged for selling a few items, I decided I'd be better off selling
for less money via newspapers. I tried to cancel my seller account.
Ebay said no. I sent them a 'Take Notice" message that I no longer
provided them the ability to debit my card whenever they felt like it
and if they made any more debits on my card after last Monday (that was
7 days notice) I would consider they fraudulently access the card and
report the matter.
The problem now is that they did indeed access the card (yesterday) but
I haven't a clue who to report the matter to other than my card provider
as an unauthorised debit. Can some one help with a little advise please?

first contact Amex and have them refuse all charges from Ebay.
Then contact the Ombudsman in your state and ask for advice
on where to go, or the same from your state legal aid. I had a
similar problem some years ago and simply canceled the Amex
card and got Amex to issue a new card with a different number,
no current account no charges accepted.

call the card issuer. dispute the transaction and ask to have a new card
issued with another number. once your money is secure you can take your
time punishing those responsible at ebay.
hint* get a VESA debit card for internet use. only transfer money in there
when your about to use it. that way dishonest traders cant take money that
is not there.
I transfer money from my Normal credit card to my vesa debit with internet
banking just before pressing OK on a transaction with a website. that way I
am sure to only pay the money I agree to. The rest of the time the account
has $0 in it, so any other transactions bounce!
