LOS ANGELES – A 42-year-old man whose 4-year-old daughter fell to her death from
the Palos Verdes cliffs while the pair was hiking three years ago was indicted
with her murder and pleaded not guilty today, the District Attorney’s office
announced.

Deputy District Attorney Craig W. Hum of the Torrance office said a criminal
Grand Jury indicted Cameron John Brown, (dob 9-21-1961), in case No. BA255206
with one count of murder with the special circumstances of financial gain and
lying in wait.

The District Attorney’s office will announce at a later date on whether it will
seek the death penalty against Brown. He is being held without bail.

Lauren Key died on Nov. 8, 2000, after she and her father hiked to Inspiration
Point in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes. It is one of the highest points on the
Palos Verdes cliffs and drops 120 feet to the ocean below.

Brown claimed the girl slipped, authorities said. Sheriff’s homicide detectives
conducted a lengthy investigation. Hum said there was no relationship with the
child until she was about 3, when her mother filed a claim for child support and
paternity was established. Authorities said Brown was the biological father.

Hum said that after being ordered to pay child support, the defendant was
granted visitation with the little girl.

Brown was arrested last November after Hum filed charges in Torrance. The
indictment, returned July 20th and unsealed today by Los Angeles Superior Court
Judge David Wesley, eliminates the need for a preliminary hearing and the
earlier case in Torrance will be dismissed Tuesday.

He was properly indicted, and was lawfully incarcerated, based on the

the process. Tell us again why searching Cam's house was such a total
outrage, and what secrets were uncovered by investigators that should

over-the-top -- after all, this IS *Los Angeles* we're talking about.]

We've always wondered why you even *brought* this matter to the NGs,
given the fact that no one would have ever known your brother-in-law's
status if you hadn't opened your pie-hole. It sounds to me like *you*

so pervasive that you don't see that the evidence against Cam is strong
enough to justify a conviction.

No matter how the Peterson case turns out -- and it is a closer call
than it would have been, if Geragos hadn't fucked up so badly that his
