When I was young and stupid I used to drive at whatever speed I felt
comfortable with under the prevailing conditions... and so little ever
happened it was plain bloody boring.

Then I saw the govt ads on TV and they scared the shit out of me.

Now I always drive 10 kph below the posted limit (coz I can't be sure
if my speedo is any more accurate than that), preferably in the right
hand lane where I can see more.

Life has taken on a new dimension. Most people wave and honk their
horns, some just wish me well (at least I see their lips move) and
there's sights to see I never knew existed. I've even seen a few
crashes as the odd impatient idiot weaves and ducks around me.

Driving has never been so much fun. All I need now is a large 4WD
wagon with a high seating position so I'll have an even better view.

When I was young and adrenalin perfect I used to drive at whatever speed I
felt comfortable with under the prevailing music I was listening to, the
exhaust note and how many beers I had and it was so exciting, 40-100kph
over, new situations every day, just like Indy 500 on the Atari.

Then I saw the govt ads on TV and they scared the shit out of me because of
liability nowdays, even when you are doing 80kph in a back street and
someone steps onto the road, it's their fault you can't stop in time, I used
to not even stop afterwards, they have medicare anyway.

Now I always drive no more than 10 kph above the posted limit (coz I put
bigger tyres on), preferably in the right hand lane so I don't run up the
back of cars at the limit but I do get tailgaters now.

Life has taken on a new dimension. People don't flash their lights or honk
their horns at me any more, it's been ages since motorbikes have kicked my
doors or anyones got out of their car to punch me out at the lights.

I've even seen a few crashes as the odd patient idiot has been run into by
people driving like I used to.

Driving has never been so much fun, I have lowered Hyundai with on dash DVD
to watch as I drive and mobile internet so can have an even better view of
the idiots doing dumb stuff in traffic while watching traffic cam websites.
