Any recommendations on a HDCD player? Have a few disk's and nothing to
play them on, that does them justice. Just picked up a Pioneer 676a, so
all other base's covered. Thanks.

Hi Mark,
The NAD C542 or the Rotel RDC-1072 are both very good HDCD players (I
have both). The NAD is maybe a touch more musical, while the Rotel is
more detailed. But... If you really want an outstanding HDCD player
try this one (https://www.nysound.com/hifi/servlet/ShoppingServlet?action=productdetail&itemID=S10CS)
The S-10CS is sold in Australia as the Vincent S-6 with an RRP of
$2500. I've had this player for a few months now and its in a
different league from the NAD and Rotel. The sheer musical involvement
and bass response that this player generates is hard to describe. I
have it matched with
(https://www.nysound.com/hifi/servlet/ShoppingServlet?action=productdetail&itemID=SPT300)
and Orpheus Aurora 3 Signature speakers and I'm just amazed at how
good this combination sounds whenever I put on a CD.
cheers,
Stephen

Thanks, I was looking at the NAD. I was also toying with the idea of a
HDCD compliant Amp. Marantz or the like. I have a very old Pioneer CD
player (80's), but it sounds great. I had to repair it last week and
borrowed a friends Technics player of the same vintage and it sounded
awful. As tinny as hell in the mid and high range. Couldn't fix it fast
enough. I am slowly getting my gear up to spec. If I get a HDCD amp the
Pioneer 676a would suffice for the job. I tried Das Boot out yesterday
on it. I have to say the sound is very awesome for a $250 player.
The S-10CS sounds interesting, I saw an ad in an Aussie Hifi mag for the
Vincent S-6, it did look interesting.
