I dont see a point in a 400GIG HDD if it doesnt have a HD digital tuner.

what does the hard drive have to do with the digital tuner? anyway digital
tuners aint coming for at least 2 years in dvd recorders so there's no point
degrading current models cos they dont have them. personally i find the 80gb
hard drive of the E100 too small so the 400gb is perfect.

I thought I saw an ad on tv for a Grundig dvd recorder with a built in
digital tuner?

A 400GB HDD is enough to record a reasonable number of hours of HDTV, its
overkill for standard TV, just how much TV do you want to record on a single
HDD. How could you ever get thru watching it before being able to record new
stuff. Its a piece of piss to put a DTV tuner in a recorder, its deliberate
decision not to have them to force you to buy set top boxes.

I agree...it's called marketing....or better still, roll over and cop
another up your ar##. As if we consumers haven't been getting ripped off
enough over the years. Please explain how STB's were over $400 when first out
and now less than $150 in some stores. Even now the HDSTB's are as low as
$499 and even at that possibly still $450 over priced!

I am looking at selling a new toy which has a 200Gb hard drive and a
HDTV Digital Tuner. If they don't cost to much I may buy one to see
how well they perform. What is good about this new toy is it can
record to DVD-R/+R, DVD-RW/+RW and Dual Layer DVD+R media.

I can sell Digital STB's along with HD ones. They are quite cheap at
present. Warranty is the only downside where the warranty is over
east. Bought one of these for myself and am rapt with the quality.
If they had a warranty in each state I'd sell them.

Now to look into these new toys. Just doing a bit more reading and
larger hard drive sizes are available.
