Hi Folks,

After just returning my Kaon570 for a refund because it caused a
slight strobing effect together with a degraded picture quality on
analogue tv whilst the kaon recorded a different channel - I'm
wondering if this is a common problem on single tuner PVR's before I
look at doubling the cost and buying a toppy?

BTW - When I by-pass the kaon with the antenna RF cable, ie staight
into tv, - the analogue picture is much better. When the RF cable goes
via the STB to the tv, the picture is watchable but the slight
strobing and added noise makes it annoying. When watching digital from
the STB the picture is excellent, I only had the problem when the Kaon
was recording one channel and I was watching analogue on another.

Yes, all digital STBs seem to give a bit of interference on analogue
depending on analogue RF signal level and how you deal with the Antenna
Passthrough. But if you get a Topfield, then you won't need to ever watch
analogue again (I haven't!).
I expect the interference is related to how strong your analogue signal is
in the 1st place. Mine isn't so good, and the fact that the Topfield
signal passes through 2 tuners and a VCR (well, not anymore, I haven't used
the VCR in the year I have had the Topfield) before it gets to the TV,
definitely reduces the signal level.
A few have tried a different solution, and that is one of those Kingray 4
way amplified splitters. Feed 2 of the outputs to the Topfield, one to
your analogue TV, and you will find no interference problems then.
