I noticed this site referred to in another post, so I decided to have the
look: www.revtel.com.au
Obviously they are taking the no-frills thing to the max, but if you can go
past the con's, this has the potential to be a very cost effective prepaid
service.
Pro's:
*9.9c/30 secs with 20c flagfall
*Twice the recharge amount in credit ($20=$40 on account, $30=$60 on
account,$50=$100 on account)
*No expiry time on credits (except that the rental below will eat them up
eventually)
*On the Vodafone network - could also be a con, depends on if you like the
network or not
Con's
*Customer service by e-mail or $2/min phone number
*15c day 'network fee' (i.e. rental)
*Billed in 30 sec blocks
*On the Vodafone network - could also me a pro if you like the network
No idea how long they have been around for, but I think they have the
potential to put it up iSim if they last.

Doing a big of googling to try and find out a bit more about them:
http://www.marketunited.com/news.php?news=22
Their prepaid service is only new. The article dated 12-8-2004 says:
"A national online marketing campaign that kicks off the "revolution" is set
to commence next month."
http://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/20041103/pdf/3njmkmv0jtb20.pdf
7-11 are going to rebrand and resell the service. CommodiTel own Revtel.

I got the impression that this bonus credit was once-off when you first sign
up only; after that recharges at normal rate.
Additional Con:
* Each time you recharge there is a 50c fee incurred.

Since when did you become the advocate for "Australians"??
And what makes you so sure. According to the stats that you constantly
sprout, Aussies don't mind bending over and being done up the ass by your
beloved, why would this charge alter their mindset?

On most prepaids the call credits expire after a certain period. On Revtel
they don't, but they have a 15c a day access fee instead.

they may with rates that low
what would scare me is the $2 per min customer service number.. but I guess
there has to be some catch for them to be profitable

$0.15 * 365 = $54.75 year access fee..
Pretty average offer, Isim seems better value.. the access fee buys 140 mins
of airtime on isim alone..

Same shit as credits expiring on other services. You don't get it for free
either way.

Yeah, that surprised me a bit, but I suppose at least they offer a number of
some sort where iSim only do e-mail/chat.
The other advantage with this is that you can ring Vodafone themselves for
some things (e.g. diverts, coverage, service features).

communic8 - a licensed product NAME that was around for 3-4 years. Product
still exists
TON - I had one in 1997, its now 2004, and its only just been withdrawn for
new sales. Still used in HomeZip, and product still exists
PCCW - still around
So once, again, do you have a point?

Anyone care to guess what is going on with recharge option No. 2 (below)?:
"When can I recharge my Prepay account?
When you can recharge your prepay account depends on what method you are
using:
1. Via a recharge outlet - 24x7
2. Via the website - Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm EST."
