Hi
After a few years of semi-retirement, I'm thinking about getting back into
playing music.
Who am I?
40-ish Aussie bloke.
Look a little like the love child of Kim Beazely and Derryn Hinch.
Versatile voice that can produce amazing power or delicate soft tones.
Pretty fair accoustic and electric guitarist (mostly rhythm)
Passable Mandolin player (think REM-Losing My Religion)
Beginner-level drummer (can probably get better pretty fast, if needed).
I've done some basic midi programming at home for fun, but haven't tried
it in a professional gig.
I like
Country (but not out-of-key fake Nashville)
Classic Rock (Elvis, Beatles, Van Morrison, Skyhooks, Springsteen,
Chisel, Mentals, etc.)
Folky Stuff (Dylan, Paul Simon, Paul Kelly, Frente, Bushwackers,
Whitlems)
I haven't really tried any really modern stuff, but I'm game. (No
hip-hop).
When I play, I like to work hard and get good results, but I'm not
(completely) obsessive. It has got to still be fun. I'd prefer to work
with professionals or semi-professionals - at least people who are
prettycompetent on their instruments.
So
Looking for a band member, a duo partner, somebody to do some solo gigs?
Drop me an email michaelj at optusnet dot com dot au
(By the way, I'm in South-East Sydney, so it probably won't work if you
rehearse in Cambletown)
