Hi all, this is a bit unusual, I've got a dozen of songs taken from
Home & Away, that sound awesome but I have no idea who performs them.
This is the address where I upped them :
http://msf5.free.fr/home-and-away/
I'm particularly interested in these ones if you can't be bothered with
all of them :
haa-4 => http://msf5.free.fr/home-and-away/unknown-haa-4.mp3
haa-2 => http://msf5.free.fr/home-and-away/unknown-haa-2.mp3
haa-13 => http://msf5.free.fr/home-and-away/unknown-haa-13.mp3
haa-12 => http://msf5.free.fr/home-and-away/unknown-haa-12.mp3
haa-10 => http://msf5.free.fr/home-and-away/unknown-haa-10.mp3
but I would be even more chuffed if someone managed to ID them all ;-)
Seriously though, thank you for your help.

Well I tried the first two, nothing, so I'm not going to bother with the
rest of them. There's so little to go on anyway. Stick to Neighbours,
music's much louder and there's less bloody talking over the music. HTH

"Shadowland" by the Youth Group. Gorgeous song; the EP may still be
available.
By the way, what's the deal with haa-6.mp3? It's 1035KB but 0.8 seconds
long. It's not everyday I see someone encode MP3s at 9824Kbs. <g>
Anyway, just 1/12. Sorry.

and it plays fine, it's 1:28mn long

The first two aren't necessarily the easiest ones though.

Well I do watch Neighbours but there's already a website with the names
of all the bands and songs they use, and anyway they mostly play Pete
Murray these days so it's pretty easy.
They used to list all the bands (sorted by episode) on the Mushroom
redords website but they stopped 2 years ago.
The volume shouldn't be an issue if you know the band, I've already
recognised SFK, Anika Moa, Eskimo joe...
And I have to keep watching H&A, they've been playing Magic Dirt lately
and I'm hoping to hear their song "Girlboy" one day, that would be
interesting.
Anyway thanks for trying.

It turns out my player (Foobar 0.8.2) is having problems with the file. I
tried it with MS Media Player and it works fine. That may explain why I
encountered a lot of 2 second samples earlier in the day.... I'll try some
again later on.
Back to the song, it's "1 2 3 4 5" by Screamfeeder.

Bouquet, you're a legend.I really like this particular tune.
I must admit I didn't try googling for the lyrics, I assumed these tunes
weren't mainstream enough to have their lyrics on the net. And I thought
it would be easier for someone who knows this sort of music
to ID them based on the riffs and general style.
Pity about haa-2, it was used a lot a few months ago, one of the
characters even used to play it on his guitar.
Maybe I should ask Robbie Buck from JJJ for the other ones, eh.
Thanks again mate.

how come you're not using winamp for your mp3's ?

thanks, fingers crossed. I hope you can ID haa-2 and haa-13 (there's 2
of us who want to know about this one actually).
Most of these songs have amazing riffs and/or melodies don't you reckon ?

Cheers ! I've heard of them before(I don't live in Australia but I try
to keep in touch with the Australian music scene via JJJ on-line).
They seem like a cool band, I'll try the web for more audio samples.
They sound a bit like a cross between Jebediah (the singer sort of has
the same voice) and the Vines.

Sarch I've just realised what you meant, if you only listen to the first
2 seconds it does sound like it's off a porn movie.

Machine Translations - She wears a mask
It's on Triple J's Hottest 100 vol10 if you don't want to or can't get a MT
recording on its own.

cheers, that's great, I found this website :
http://www.amo.org.au/artist.asp?id=977
where you can stream the whole song. I'm definitely buying this record.
About haa-13, I've uploaded a better, longer version to :
http://msf5.free.fr/home-and-away/unknown-haa-13-long.mp3
I could work out the following lyrics :
I'm letting you go (repeat a few times)
and
nothing that I say or do, seems to make this work
Anyone ? I tried to google for them but nothing turned up (nothing
relevant anyway).

Foobar is better able to handle some of my 200+MB MP3 recordings. ;)
Unfortunately though, it's still in development so bugs such as the one I
encountered won't surprise anyone.
WinAmp is nice but it's slower when scanning through very large recordings.
It also has more bloat.

I recognise some of them (heard on JJJ over the years) but I'm unable to ID
them unfortunately.

I think they're an under-rated group who were deserving of more success.
And despite the lack of commercial success, I'm just glad they've been able
to continuously release new material over the past decade.

Hey,
I'm not an expat no but I do live in France. I'm just a fan of
Australian/NZ music.
I spotted another Screamfeeder track "Bunny", and a Mark Seymour one
"made man" that I hadn't uploaded yet.
I've also managed to identified 2 other tunes by myself from the old
batch, by googling the lyrics.
They're from Lazy Susan, one is called "Top of her goodbye" the other is
"I will". I can't remember what numbers they were but I've put the clips
with the names of the bands and tracks there :
http://msf4.free.fr/home-and-away/
I found a few mp3's from Lazy Susan on the net, they seem like a great
band too.
What about Gersey and Machine Translations, are their albums worth
checking out ? It's difficult to judge on just 1 track.

Lazy Suzan are great. I like their first album ("Long Lost") better than
their current one, but they're both great.
Cheers, Robert.
