1.) New splash screen.

2.) Button assignment on remote changed.
- PLAY becomes PLAY/PAUSE
- PAUSE becomes BOOKMARK
- The Bookmark button was omitted from the remote in the initial release.
This button is required for use of the Bookmark feature.
The remotes of later units have been rectified.

Sounds like this firmware only change the functions of a couple of button on the remote.

If my Z330 is working fine do I need to upgrade the firmware?

Had you done any firmware updates previously? If you were at the one prior to this then there may not be a lot of difference, if you still have the shipping version though there are quite a few updates and it is worth updating.

one thing that isn't mentioned in the release notes for this new firmware is that they fixed the display format of the goto function (press 'time' button twice). Where it used to display the incorrect number of characters on-screen, which was quite confusing, they now display the characters correctly (ie. "h:mm:ss").

It's a bit frightening that Mediatek fix things that they don't document. But great that they at least fix them.

it would be good if they could get rid of the issues with jerky video :/
