Another one what?
You can't keep calling people names every time they call you on how
wrong you are.
It's like this. You are protected by the rule of law. The rule of law
and its attendant lack of arbitrariness make it possible for you to
live under the relative freedom to make the kind of glib, ignorant
statements that you do. Clearly it was bequeathed to you by people
with greater vision and a better understanding of what's important
than you posess. The rule of law applies to everyone, not just people
you approve of. If that were not the case, it would not be the rule of
law, it would just be the abtitrariness of those in power helping
their friends and punishing their enemies like they've been doing for
thousands of years. You want to go back to that? (Rhetorical
question.)

My oh my - such eloquence. But it stll does not gainsay the fact that he
was serving with, and taken in the company of, terrorists.

Are you saying that the Taliban are not terrorists???
If uncertain, ask the UN or MSF.

They weren't nice guys but I don't believe they themselves were
terrorists. As I understand it, he was attending a madrasa in Lahore
in Pakistan and as part of his course he went on some patrols with
Taliban militia. That's when he was picked up.

What has the UN ever said about the Taliban and terrorism, Percy? Can
you give us some links to statements?
....and which MSF are you talking about here Percy? The Motorcycle Safety
Foundation? Medecins Sans Frontieres? What _did_ they say about the
Talibs and terrorism? Please explain.
What about the USA? you don't mention them, but they _are_ the ones
actually holding Australian citizens without trial, and they _are_ the
same country which gave $43 million to the Taliban in November 2000.
Shouldn't we be condemning them for doing that? How about a bit more
info Percy.
You're making a fair few accusations here, but I'm not seeing a lot of
evidence backing it up...

Actually, I'm glad Percy's killfiled both us both. That means we can
discuss him here without hurting his feelings. After all, it'd take a
real scummy hypocrite to actually read postings you've claimed to have
plonked.
So what do you reckon Percy's really doing here? Frankly, I've been a
bit hesitant to contradict him, you know the Dilbert thing "Never argue
with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with
experience."
He posts stuff which is just so dumb, he's got to know he's going to be
slapped down, then waits a week or two and does it all again. I can
understand why a conservative'd be happy about being spanked for free,
but you'd reckon he'd get sick of it eventually.
I'd thought that maybe he was astroturfing, a paid shill fot the Libs,
given that most of his accusations are right out of the Alston/Williams
paranoia mill.
His technique's right out of their book too - make a bunch of
unsubstantiated accusations about people who aren't there to defend
themselves and hope some mud sticks, but you'd reckon even Howard's mob
could afford better than this...
Anyway, what do you reckon? Shill? Idiot? Masochist? All of the above?
