Nein have gone to great lengths to hide any sort of contact from some low
life "Viewer" ( and I mean that of all of us ) they don't want contact with
anyone that might have some form of criticism or constructive ideas.
Good luck

Neither 7, 9 or 10 have "general" email addresses. Some of the individual
show may have.
Can you imagine the number of emails they would get if there was? You have
to either ring or write.

The ABC do have such an address, and they seem to manage. They even
give individual responses -- not form letters.
The commercial networks really aren't interested in viewer feedback.
Viewers are the product, not the customers. It'd be like a bank
asking if the money feels comfortable.

Not me....
Companies often don't like email feedback because it is easily discarded.
Letters/faxes usually have to be filed or forwarded to management etc.
The company I work for does this. If a customer calls up to complain or
comment, we tell them to put it in writing.
I think email is treated as a phone call.... Once you hang up/delete, it
never existed....

Yep.
Also, it's just 'too easy' to complain/whinge via e-mail. Consequently the
numbers of e-mails received would be seriously insane. The commercial stations
are not stoopid - there is very little in it for them to have a department
examining copious e-mails received from loopy illiterate fcuks. Sure, the ABC
does it and manages. The ABC has two distinct advantages: a smaller viewership;
who are generally more intelligent and articulate!
It sorts the wheat from the chaff for viewers/customers etc., for stations to
make it difficult (if not impossible) to complain via e-mail. To have to just go
that extra yard and print it out, address and stamp and envelope and post it is
a good 'filter'. If one feels strongly enough about their concerns being 'heard'
that's not too difficult, but I would reckon the percentage of intended
complainers drops off sharply in the move from phone/e-mail to written letter
complaints (or compliments!).

Personally, I'm not interested in complaining to TV networks. It seems
quite pointless. I would, however, like to be able to ask (for example)
Channel Nine if or when they plan to run season 5 of _The West Wing_.
(Well, actually, no, I probably wouldn't even bother with that, as I've
got sick of waiting around and have grabbed the episodes online instead.
But you see the sort of thing I mean, yes?)
I don't know if the ABC bothers with personal responses to whinges,
but they certainly *do* respond to that sort of question. And while
they may not have as many TV viewers as Nine, I reckon once you take all
their radio stuff into account the volume of mail is going to be
comparable, if not rather greater.
But again, as I noted earlier, the commercial networks really don't
give a shit. We're the product, not the customer.

No, you are the audience. The product is the stuff they air, and the
customer is the advertisers. It really isn't that difficult.

Dude, the product is what they sell. And what they sell is eyeballs

The product they sell is advertising air time. They do this by buying or
making programs we may or may not want to watch. We are helping them make
money by watching those programs, thereby increasing the ratings of those
programs, which in turn increases the value of the advertising time during
the higher rating programs. Maybe we should all get a cut of the profits.

you seem to miss the point, without all those eyes watching, or not watching
those programs with the adds in them, they would be unable to sell the air
time to all those desperate producers out there.
The Station, can say " we have 100,000 viewers for this show every night,
for X dollars we can show your super duper turbo turd to those 200,000
eyes", now, if only 50,000 eyes were watching then they can only charge half
of X, you see they have to sell our eyes to the advertisers, therefore
making us the PRODUCT, TV makes money from advertising, they sell it by
selling us, the viewer.
