Hello Everyone...
I bought this new Sony Cybershot P100 at Best Buy a few days ago, and I can't figure out how to install the driver so I can download the pictures. I had an old Cybershot 2 megapixel installed on there before, and I didn't uninstall that one before I installed the new one, but I didn't think that would matter. Anyways, the manual says you don't need a driver for XP, but when I plug the camera into the computer using the USB cable, it tells me it cannot recognize the device that's plugged into the computer. Which means that XP doesn't start the Photo Wizard and I can't download pictures. Any help would be much appreciated! THANKS!

What you have read is correct. My only thinking is that since the P100 is a fairly new release you'll need to have Service Pack 1, or maybe even Service Pack 2 for XP. If you haven't upgraded it's probably not recognising it. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from, but I recently resotred my computer and installed XP SP2, so I'm not sure that's the problem. Would it have anything to do with installing over a 2 Megapixel Driver (Sony Also). It works just fine on my Toshiba Satellite (XP SP2). The only thing I did different between my current computer and the Satellite was uninstall the 2 Megapixel driver off the Satellite before I started messing around with the new camera. I did not, however, uninstall the 2 Megapixel driver on my desktop because I thought it would write over the old one and replace it with the new one. Thanks for your help!

Hmmm, sounds strange. Maybe check Sony's website for any help, if not sounds safe to uninstall the 2MP driver, then unplug the device (if it's already plugged in), and reinsert. See what happens! :) Good luck.
