Hi

A few weeks ago I purchased a DSE SD Set Top Box and everything has
been going pretty well with it until last night. I've noticed that for
all channels the signal quality is always at least 85%-100%. However,
for Channel 10 here in Sydney, which usually has signal quality
between 95-97%, it's suddenly dropped to around 80%. I was wondering
if anyone knew what could be causing the sudden drop.

Thanks.

Mark.

Slight movement of the antenna, due to wind.

What I want to know is that according to www.aba.gov.au both
channel 7 and 10 broadcast 200kW from the same 7/10 tower at
Artarmon. Yet the signal from 7 always registers much higher
than 10.

is it erp or up the feeder ? , I would expect 7 is somewhat lower in
frequency as well.. might offer a hint ?

Does your antenna cover channels 11 & 12?

The digital transmissions come usually from the TCN site in Willoughby
and not the 7 - 10 site at Artarmon. They are of course on channels 6
and 11.

The ERP is 50KW average digital power which is similar to the power of
the analogue transmissions from Artarmon which are 200 KW PEAK (not
average) EIRP.
The method of measuring digital power is different to that used for
analogue
(Peak sync tip power)

The power of each digital transmitter is set to allow for the
different gain of the antenna at different channels.

It is also possible that the transmission is from the standby channel
11 transmitter at Artarmon as this generally does not give as good a
coverage as the Willoughby site.
