I was wondering what programs other people are using for file sharing purposes. I am currently using Soulseek, Limewire, Shareaza, Kazaa & WinMX. I find that Soulseek is slowly getting worse. I am not able to find songs as easily as I used to. Limewire is probably my favourite. Shareaza I believe has been responsible for most of the spyware I had on my computer. Kazaa is also getting worse and WinMX is satisfactory.

Emule for its content and no spyware.

There's eDonkey2000 which seems to get decent results. Mind you, I am not a
big P2P user, probably only downloading one song a week. But I am able to
find obscure new releases fairly well.

This (http://www.theage.com.au/news/Breaking/Spies-trace-music-swappers/2004/12/03/1101923300479.html) may explain why performance of Kazaa is getting worse. Is there any truth in there being spoof mp3 files out there distributed by the recording studies??? Has any one downloaded one of these ??

The RIAA and MPAA are hitting all open p2p networks. Be sure to run an
updated blocklist like peerguardian or protowall which will filter out some
of these rats. IMO p2p has a future but not in its current form. Encrypted
p2p like ANTS need to pick up stabilise and get more content.

I think I did once. Considering there's code in eMule to stop that sort of
thing, I guess it must happen.
As for Kazaa getting worse, the system's structure isn't very good. It
couldn't handle the popularity. Use eMule. It's network (eDonkey) is
responsible for more data being transferred than any other open
search/download system.

First, go to http://www.torrentstorm.com/ and download the most recent Bit
Torrent client.
After you have installed Torrentstorm, go to either http://www.suprnova.org
or http://trackerwww.prq.to .
Search around for all kinds of files...there are many there to see.
Enjoy.
