View Full Version : The Chase
Came home earlier this evening from a BBQ to collect something and then
return to the festivities , driving up Vansitart Rd to the western
lights I sensed movement to my right and LOOKED ( Im on a green) and a
copper colored commode pops the red-light from my right and turns in
front of me accelerating rapidly away to the east .
Moment later one of the local marked cars does the same thing and then
a moment later a BA turbo repeats , now Ive seen under the BA bonnet , I
will say I have never seen such a turbo on a Falcon before , when I
inquired about output the mechanic mumbled something about 300 KW , not
sure if that's rear or flywheel though .
So I move the van through the still green light and watch the chase to
the sweeping right hander into the chi cane ( its to stop rat running)
Much to my surprise the Commode has better legs than the marked car
which was in turn passed like its parked by the BA , FARKME that thing
reeled in the v8 like the commode hand brake was on , about the bridge
just before the school they stopped the v8 ( was badged as a gen III my
passenger said) now this would have taken about 1800 meter's , seconds
in fact so I have to say there is a strong chance the local coppers have
a real pursuit TOY :_)
Oh and it looked like the commode driver was not a popular boy by the
way they skull dragged him from his car ( but the 8 sounded great even
if the BA thrashed its arse)

Hmmm - The commodore would have at least been a 225kw jobbie vs GD car which
would be std 6 cylinder ,why were you surprised the comode had better
legs???Interesting. Also there wouldn't much in a contest btw the XR6t
(which has 240kw at the fly-your mechanic is very ill informed or you have
poor hearing!)and the commodroe it was chasing - certainly nothing "like it
had a handbrake on" in fact the ss would have a better
power-to-weight.Rather than your toy thoery sounds a better strong chance
the commodore had backed off from it and pulled over- given A/ it stopped
and then B/ you seen the occupant get dragged out . As an aside your
passanger has great eyes to see a 1cm x 4cm badge on a rapidly accelerating
and pursued car .
More likely scenarios 1/ as the Hwy car floored it the commodore was already
pulling over - hence why it reeled it in.[ or ]2/ the item you came home to
collect from the BBQ before returning was yet another bottle of scotch,
since you and your passanger had already consumed the 3 bottles you took
over .

By copper colored at first I thought you meant it was painted in police
(i.e. copper) colors.

( I had an ear infection in fact when looking at the car last weekend
did notice a lack of auditory performance)
and the commodore it was chasing - certainly nothing "like it

(wrong)
..Rather than your toy theory sounds a better strong chance

no it didn't and Ill preface this shortly
from it and pulled over- given A/ it stopped

stopped when we passed (sorry your argument is badly holed)

I ran into one of the local coppers who lives across the road this
morning in paper shop , we chatted about the incident and he was evasive
about the BA output but suffice to say the 300kw would appear to apply
at the wheels , if the sound of the commode was anything to go by then
it certainly was not std as it revved quickly and freely to my ear (
which is no longer infected)
I will repeat the speed with which the plain white BA pulled in the
bronze coloured commode was surprising and rest assured there was no
lifting off throttle , differing and distinct notes plainly audible .Ill
admit yet again to me Ford preference ad perhaps you should turn your
hat bill forward and admit to your leanings as well.

Um, I doubt the BA was standard tune.

That seems to be the point?
I mean getting a turbocar to go harder is FAR simpler than modding a
NA one.
If you don't really give a toss about how long they need to survive in
the field.....
Yes, well:-)

Is accommodation so hard to find in Browns Plains that the police have
to make their homes in the aisles between the stationery shelves and the
magazine racks of the local newsagents? ;)
