My cars a lemon
Posted: 06 Dec 04 11:46
Post subject: HOLDEN VECTRA = LEMON
Company / Organisation name: Holden
Issue type: Complaint
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I purchased a brand new Vectra in 2001. The car has had numerous faults and
many parts
replaced, some up to 4 times. I have never come across such poor customer
service,
nor poor workmanship with any other product or service provider in my life.
My car
has had leaks from the radiator, windows and power steering. The noise and
movement I
constantly reported for three years and investigated by Holden Head Office
Engineers
was repeatedly put down to "normal road noise" and my stupidity as a female,
but in
actual fact it was a the fuel tank being loose. The weight of the fuel was
causing
the movement, and the noise was obviously friction. Teh roof struts not
being in
place was causing the car to vibrate as if it needed a major wheel alignment
and was
difficult to keep on the road. It has intermittent motor and electrical
faults that
Holden mechanics are unable to repair. Even the CD player was faulty and had
to be
replaced. As a single mum I am very disheartened that a car I worked very
hard to pay
for and believed I would have for at least 10 years is such a dud, not to
mention the
fear I have for the safety of myself and my child driving this car.
Especially when
it frequently faults in intersections and all I can do is hope it moves
before I am
hit by another car, truck or bus. Holden appear to have no concern for our
safety,
they think I have no right to be angry and when asked are they proud of the
product I
have been supplied with appear to have no care about what I am going through
or have
to tolerate. I believe car manufacturers should have to replace cars like
mine or
give a full refund to the consumer. This would make them more accountable
and more
likely to do a better job building the car initially and servicing it
afterwards.
Holden's score from me out of 10 is definately minus one million.
Can you advise me on what I can put on a sign on my car to let others know
how bad it
is?Back to top

What you just don't understand is that the real reason people dislike Magnas
is, not so much that they are a terrible car , but mainly because invariably
fuckwits like you drive them .And who wants to be associated with that?

Actually, it's the fact that people who don't drive Magnas as family
taxis are irrational ;-)

Leaks from *both* the radiator and power steering on a 3 year old car?
Almost certainly from crash damage or some other *major* underside
impact which would do similar damage to any car.

I'll bet the loose fuel tank is also something to do with an underside
impact.

Pigs arse - vibration is yet more evidence of "interesting" history.

There is a secondary issue here (other than the real car history) -
which is the inability of many mechanics to diagnose and fix these
problems. You could hardly blame only Holden for this. But then to be
fair if the mechanics are not fully aware of the car history and/or are
having to work around some other dodgy repairs then this may explain it.
Now how about come you come clean and find us a Magna lemon story?

So? I had the water pump and fuel pump replaced on my VN work vehicle within
a year.

Huh? They put their badge on the car. It's up to them to issue service
instructions for the vehicle to dealerships. Late model vectras are
notoriously lemons. One poor victim even had a website detailing his horror
story. When I find a magna horror story I'll post but haven't seen any. I
did have to replace a headlamp bulb in my TE a few months ago if that helps.

Maybe the child driving the car explains where all the porblems came from,
especially if unsupervised?

Hey OP....
You are not alone!!!!
I bought a second hand one in 2005. The engine has 'blown up twice'. It has had many many other problems. A google finds that this car is a renowned lemon and Holden, whilst aware of the problems, don't care!! I'm now $14000 out of pocket for a car that is now probably going to be sold for scrap.
