A friend of mine recently bought a 19" LCD Monitor for his PC and I was wondering has anyone seen a cable that can go from the dvi slot to ps2 ?

Not that I know of (official cables), on sonystyle there's only AV Cable (http://www.sonystyle.com.au/catalog/product.jsp?id=9102700&categoryId=22605&textview=false) AV Adaptor (with S-Video) (http://www.sonystyle.com.au/catalog/product.jsp?id=9103004&categoryId=22605&textview=false) RFU Adaptor (http://www.sonystyle.com.au/catalog/product.jsp?id=9102106&categoryId=22605&textview=false) S-Video Cable (http://www.sonystyle.com.au/catalog/product.jsp?id=9106203&categoryId=22605&textview=false)Although if the PC has TV-in or S-Video you could just plug the Playstation into the PC

You'd want it to run from the PS2 to the monitor, not the other way around. :p

I've seen VGA adaptors for the X-box and I'm sure you could find them easily enough for the ps2 as well (just google "ps2 vga adaptor" or something similar). With the graphics of the PS2 theres really no need for a DVI cable, there would be little to no difference to using it over the standard VGA cord.

thanks Linton

so does this mean that the xbox grafix are largely superior to the ps2 or is that microsoft has configured there console to work well with lcd ?

Definitely the first (being a PS2 man it's hard to say, but true) and might be a bit of the second too, although a lot of consoles brought out a VGA adaptor. I think the original PS1 has a VGA adaptor, I know the Dreamcast did, the Xbox does, and I'm pretty sure they've been made for PS2 and gamecube.

I'm not sure if they were offical or 3rd party, but they do exist.
I can say that the Xbox looked far superior on a PC monitor over a normal tv though when I used a mates console at a halo lan, which has a lot to do with better refresh rates allowed and resolutions I think (I'm not sure if a modchip is required for this or not though).

the o2 Modchip allows you to use a cheap VGA cable (cost around $10 bucks to make) and give you true Hires (not just component video) transcoded to VGA like a VGA adaptor.

my friends ps2 is already chipped with a dms3 so that idea is out of the question but very cool for those that have the 02 chip
