i couldn't resist purchasing the new pstwo slim becuase it's sooo small, i couldn't believe how small it is (its only a bit smaller than a dvd case) unfortunately the power supply is external (just like the old PSONE) and it has a fliptop lid but thats ok, it also has the ir sensor and network inbuilt.i decided to take up the challenge to chip it so i ordered the dms4lite which installed just fine the first time, it's a bit of cramped fit with 19 wires and a rather large chip. the dms4 lite come flashed with a legal bios so if you want to play backups you need to flash it. after that the fun begins, the chip actually has a menu that can be brought up on booot to select things liek fast boot, show ps2 logos,boot dev discs etc and you don't need to change modes ps2/ps1/dvd it autodetects. ive only used it for a few hours and it's been perfect. in the US they are complaining that upto 80% of lasers in the v12 are failing after the install of chips, i haven't found this yet and i hope i don't. there are vaious rumours of ways to prevent this but none of them seem to be confirmed, so for now i will just keep my fingers crossed.
