It's getting close to the end of the year and time to be thinking of the best movies you have seen in the last 12 months.I guess if your a watcher of all hollywood movies you might well be scratching your head to come up with 10 watchable films but for some of us who cast the net a bit wider it may well of been the greatest year of film in the last 2 decades. :)
Take the time to think about the movies that had the greatest impact on you in 2004 over the next two weeks and come up with your top 10.
As a little teaser i can tell you that the best movie i saw this year filmed in English was Shaun of the dead and that should make it to the top 10 but it may well be a fair way down the batting order :p

Are we looking at released in 2004, or saw for the first time in 2004..??
Reason being films like MySassy girl, OldBoy etc are probably 2003 releases :P
and the like of Infernal Affairs. 2004 here, 2002 HK

Hmmmn thats where it gets a bit technical :( My sassy girl is a bit long in the tooth the be claimed as a release this year but Oldboy did win at cannes this year so i think that well and truly qualifies.I saw infernal affairs in 2003 but if you just saw it in 2004 feel free to include it.Some people may also include Hero on that basis to i guess.

I haven't seen many films released in 2004, and even fewer outside of Hollywood (maybe my net is wedged - not that I struggle to release it too much). Can't offer ten....anyway... those I would consider are:
Dawn of the Dead
I Robot
The Manchurian Candidate
The Passion of the Christ
....and two of these are remakes  Hmmm....

1Oldboy
2TaeGukGi(The Brotherhood of War)

5Shaun of the Dead
6Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

The American one is based on the Japanese "Shall We Dance" that was released in 1996, which is one of the best romantic comedies ever, it's really funny.
I've heard reports that the remake isn't as good, but if you recommend it i might as well try to watch it when i get the chance :)
