Hi guys,
had a bit of a look round but didn't seem to find a lot on the ps2 hdd. I came across this on ebay, and just wondering on your opinions on it?

I haven't got my ps2 modified, and I was told about these. Are these a safer alternative to using a modchip to putting games on there? I gather you don't need the disks to play once the game is on the HDD?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I now notice that the item isn't actually for the HDD. Where do you get the HDD? Basically I don't know about the HDD on PS2 so as much info as possible would be great
Cheers!

The eBay item is a pretty major ripoff, CoolPC (http://www.coolpc.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=53&products_id=720) sells that for $39.
Check out this thread (http://forums.eyo.com.au/showthread.php?t=63470) to read the previous discussion on it. I know a couple of people who have it, and they haven't reported any negatives yet.

The network adaptor is also required to use the hard drive, and so the ful pack can be found here on coolpc:

Sells for $89, but sold out at the moment.
add around $90-$140 for an 80-120 gb hard drive and then you'll have everything you need.

Yes all you need is a 10c coin to install it.
Works well but not all the games work from the HDD also some of the latest generation PS2 Modchips make it so you dont need to use a boot disk.
They boot a tiny version of HDLoader off the chip, usb key or memory card.
But you are not able to do this with the new slim ps2's (no HDD) they may be able to add a HDD via USB in the future but the loading speed (USB 1.1 Limit of 12megabits/sec) will be around a 8th the speed of DVD drive (no thanks!!!!)
