View Full Version : Q: Any Epson TW500's in Aus?

Hi,

just had an opportunity to evaluate a Panny AE700 and compared it to
an Epson TW100H. Either the unit I had for evaluation was dodgy or the
Epson just plain outclassed the panny.

I'm not interested in getting into any projector holy wars, just
stating what I saw during the eval I performed on the unit.(Component
into the Panny vs composite into the Epson) It's a shame as I really
wanted to like the unit so much but couldn't bring myself to keeping
it due to the difference in picture quality.

Anyhow, that being said I'm curious to see if anyone has seen a real
working TW500 in Aus and if so what were your impressions with it?

What I'd like to know is if there is any real upgrade advantage
between the TW100H and a TW500. eg: Is fan noise really that much
better than the TW100H?, picture quality?, how well does the
calibration software work, etc.

The panny absolutely impressed the pants off of me in this department.
Made me real jealous. :-(

Thoughts appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

Hi Joe, seems like the scaler in the AE700 is no good, read the thread below
'AE700 and dvd players'. Seems like a progressive scan DVD player is the
only way to get an excellent image with the AE700.

Its very obviouse that the place was delibrately making the AE700 show a
shitty picture to offload the now
obsolete tw100.
Ive had both, and there is no way the TW100 is superior to the AE700.It aint
even close
My advice go demo a AE700 setup correctly and dont worry about TW500s as
they are of a comparably quality of the AE700 for more then double the
money.

No, the comparison was done in his own home. What dvd player did you do the
comparison on?
