In sydney last night another p plated in a nissan skyline turbo died , he was racing a silver sports car a front seat female also died and a rear passenger is in a serious condition. why do we let high powered cars be driven by such inexperienced young people.
There should be a power to weight ratio which p platers have to adhere to

I see no mention of the 21 year old driver being on P Plates.
"Car crash victims were engaged
December 21, 2004
A YOUNG couple killed when their sports car slammed into a power pole
in Sydney's west overnight were engaged to be married, police said
today.
Wreck
Wreck ... the car was split in two by the impact
The 32-year-old brother of the male driver, who was travelling in the
back of the car, was also injured in the accident and remains in a
critical condition in hospital.
The couple was killed when their Nissan Skyline clipped the front of a
four wheel drive at the intersection of Milperra Road and Marigold
Street, Milperra, just after 11pm (AEDT) yesterday before hitting a
power pole, police said.
The 21-year-old driver from Chester Hill and his 20-year-old fiancee,
from Villawood, died at the scene.
"The driver and the front seat passenger were engaged to be married
and the back seat passenger was the brother of the driver,"
Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit Commander Peter Jenkins told
reporters.
Eerily resembling the recent spate of fatal crash scenes involving
P-plate drivers, the car - believed to be a Nissan Skyline - was split
in two by the impact.
Police last night suspected the car was racing a silver vehicle.
Debris was strewn across the intersection, with the car so badly
mangled that police were initially unable to identify anything about
the car except its colour.
Bystanders said the car was travelling west along Milperra Rd when the
driver swerved left to avoid hitting an oncoming 4WD, which was
turning right into Marigold St.
Car split in two
As the driver of the bright metallic-green car took the evasive
action, it mounted the left-side kerb, colliding with a power pole and
splitting in two.
The area is well-known for illegal drag racing.

Maybe a power to weight ratio that conforms to IQ is required!

One thing about the accident that they forgot to mention in the article was
that the car split in two. :-)

A goo proportion do when they wrap around a pole...a girlfriend of
mine was killed when her TE Cortina tor itself in two on a pole late
70's.
Unfortunately I was following her at the time...and held her as she
went, lying on the road naked where she'd been thrown.

Anyway, it's a cheap way to get a front cut if you have a 240Z that needs an
upgrade :)

They're intimating that the car might have built up out of a front and
rear cut ??
Without actually saying so, of course.
Still, this story has it all.
A drag race where the 'opposition' was not willing to hang about to
assist where possible - are the fines *that* bad?
A <gasp> 4WD.
A piece of roadside hardware, thoughtfully placed there by our
servants.
An engaged to be married couple.
A relative.
Nasty and unfortunate business all round.

What's so hard to believe about a totally sound car breaking in two
after contacting a pole at speed?

Think you'll find many here are merely hardened to it. That, and some
obviously just have no sympathy for the types of character that do such
things - the result of which brings pressure in enforcement on the majority
of the age (or car) group who do drive carefully and with commonsense.

80-90kph in an 80 zone.
She didn't know the road.
It takes a bend to the left and was virtually unlit.
There are a row of street lights going up a rise where you would
expect a straight road to go but they are on the other side of a
narrow section of a golf course.
It appeared to me that she mistook those lights for the road, realised
at the last minute and swung left.
Unfortunately there was, and still is a telegraph pole right there.
The coroner couldn't see any problem despite using up all kinds of
cop equipment that they had hanging around the police officer's
station.
They was taking plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling
prints, andthey took twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
photographs with circles
and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what
eachone was to be used as evidence against us. Took pictures of the
approach, the getaway, the northwest corner the southwest corner and
that's not tomention the aerial photography. :-)
Hell, they even examined my car to see if I'd run into hers and caused
her to lose control!!
I believe he was covering arse for the fools that placed another piece
of lethal roadside furniture with absolutely no regard for life.
There is still no barricade, reflective or not to show that the road
does in fact go left.....but that same pole has needed to be replaced
a number of times since.
I drive that road nearly every weekend in summer, and my blood still
runs cold when I pass that spot.

Unfortunately yes.
You don't need to be doing 180kph, ya just got to be unlucky, and hit
at just the right spot.

Yep, I wasn't aiming my comment at you, but at the clowns who think
that just because the car broke in two that it must have been dodgy or
travelling at some insane speed.
