View Full Version : Speeding Fine........
As you all know the speed limits have been dropped all over Auz. I was
driving in a 50km zone and doing about 55-57km. I don't deliberately speed
only that I find it difficult to remember to slow down sometimes in the
areas that are now 50km instead of 60km. It's a busy intersection where the
red light and speed cameras are located. I saw a couple of flashes as I
drove through the intersection so not sure if it's me or another driver that
got done. It would have been 2 of us that got done so not sure what the f*$k
happened.
Anyone know what the limit is for cameras to start snapping people? I
thought it was 69km in a 60km zone so not sure what it is in a 50km zone?
Cheers

Are you in Canberra? I think it's only 10% down there. So 56km/h would
have you snapped I think.

its my understanding (could be well wrong though) that if there's 2 or more cars in the shot they cant be 100% who is at fault- therefore no fine.

Every KM over is a killer.. not only to the poor bastard you might hit

I think it's 10% above the speed limit.

Fixed cameras usually can diferentiate .. its just roadside/handheld units
that have trouble locking on ..
In vic the tollerance is 3kmh or 3%, can't recall which .. either way your
buggered .. most other states are around the 10% mark .. so your still
buggered ..

In NSW the fixed speed camera tolerances are tighter (10% flat as of 2003)
that of the NSW Police.

It was said by the state opposition(Libs) last year that the tolerance was
secretly raised back to 10%, I don't know if it's true or not.

What? Nor sure what they use in Vic, but here in NSW,
the Lidar certainly does not have any trouble aquiring a
target and is extremely accurate in the way a target is selected.

I'm even slowing down *out* of the car.
Make that; I've slowed down. :-(

To quote a recently aquired speeding fine from a camera:
"The alleged speed is 3km/hr less than the detected speed or 3% less
if over 100 km/hr"
Mine or the wife, not sure who was driving at the time, is for a
detected speed of 57 km/hr, so an alleged speed of 54 km/hr in a 60
zone.
Cheers

Try waiting 5 months like I had to for my $peed camera fine.
Then they expect you to pay within 21 days!
