Wonder if there'll be any US carriers coming up soon too.

The nice bit is that it also works with CDMA Prepaid at present. However,
when CDMA Prepaid converts to Prepaid Plus next month, roaming will be
disalbled for Prepaid users.
Progress? Nah.

Answered 7 hours earlier and much more usefully by Paul Day. Why do you
waste space Mikey?
(Referring someone to www.telstra.com is almost as useless and no referral
at all. Australia's biggest company by market cap with Australia's most
poorly organised web site. Says it all about the owner of the site, doesn't
it?)

I answered it as the question was asked of me, as I posted the "goodie"

The whole Prepaid 'plus' thing sucks. Converted my Hyundai CDMA account
into a GSM last week.
I missed the roaming in NZ by a month. I tried by handset over there on the
off chance. Any attempt to call referred me to Telecom NZ for assistance.
They tried but could do anything to help, but at least phone negotiated
their network.
The pricing for calls on CDMA is much better than with GSM. NZ->Aus and
NZ-NZ is only $0.57. Voda NZ charge A$2.08 for an NZ-NZ and A$3.88 for an
NZ->Aus call! Hopefully the competition from Telescum will make them drop
the price.

Why don't you port away to Vodafone with a $2 SIM and port back to Telstra
Prepaid "Plus" with the old Hyundai? That way you are eligible for the
following offer (not available to migrations within Telstra,. need to
port-in as a "new" customer):
"If you connect to a Telstra
Pre-Paid Plus CDMA service from 1 November 2004 until 13 February 2005, you
will receive double the value of your recharges for 12 months from
activation" - refer

Yes, telstra have talked about having outbound roaming agreements for CDMA for the last 5 years, they've had inbound CDMA roaming argeements for the last 5 years.
It will be interesting to see how country we will be able to roam to.

Telsra don;t give a rats about letting country-folk take their mobiles
overseas. Howard's got the senate soon so why would the Nationals give a
hoot!
