All carriers sell phones capable of a service they dont provide. No carrier
provides the ability to poll your prepaid balance from the phone functions,
yet its still in my nokia 3310

Not rumours - there was an announcement made to the Australian Stock
Exchange. It's been quiet ever since,
Calling Orange customer care about this subject provides you with many
interesting and sometimes nonsensical answers.

I've been happy with Orange overall. I've had some issues with
delayed SMSs and voicemail, but the service has been trouble free lately.
I've also been travelling a bit and I've had perfect roaming to Telstra
CDMA. If there's a rough patch, I just remind myself that I only pay 11
cents for SMSs and 18 cents per 30 seconds for calls. Can't beat that!
Graham.

LOL...no roaming on pre paid, moron.
What's the point of paying cheap rates for SMS (short, not long) and cheap
voicemail when it can arrive up to two days late?! Pathetic.

Is that a fact, mate?
Officially prepaid national cdma roaming launched 13/1/5 but was working on
the 8/1/5 in my part of victoria.

That may be the official date, but its crapshit in reality.
It worked on the 8/1/5 in Victoria along the Western Highway.
Didnt work in Mt Gambier, SA, so may not have been hooked up there yet.
3 barely made it to Bacchus Marsh, pathetic as usual.
I did get two Vodafone National Roaming occurrences, one for Telstra base
"LookoutHill" (have to check but i think that was it), and one for Hamilton.
