The BBC's landmark television series, The Blue Planet, which opened our eyes to the unique and spectacular wonders of life in the sea in 2001, is now available on DVD.
Costing £7 million to produce and taking 5 years to complete, The Blue Planet is the first comprehensive study of the natural history of our oceans.. From the mysteries of the deep to the open ocean, The Blue Planet explores the complex biological system supporting the myriad of life forms that inhabit these vast expanses.
Ideal for the DVD format, The Blue Planet breaks new ground in filming techniques, capturing ocean life at its most fearsome and alluring. Rare creatures such as the magnificent Blue Whale and the bizarre deep-sea Angler-fish have been brilliantly captured on film, many for the very first time. The eight-part series was filmed in some of the most spectacular locations around the world, including the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Alaska, Antarctica, Bahamas, Florida and Australia.
The Blue Planet on DVD boasts a range of spectacular Special Features including two short films, Making Waves, which reveals the secrets behind the making of the series and Deep Trouble, a serious look at the environmental havoc humans are wreaking on our oceans. A superb Photo Gallery and interviews with the production team complete this sensational DVD package.
