View Full Version : Telstra pre-paid - phone won't ring for long enough
RockyRoad

My phone used to ring for a long time when people called me, now it
diverts them to a stupid message saying that can SMS me the number that
they called from.
Can I turn this off? I don't want SMS's of strange numbers (they can
ring me back later) and I often can't get to the phone in time for the
shorter number of rings it now allows.
Its annoying. I want it to just ring and ring and ring until either I
get there or the caller hangs up.
(I don't have message bank turned on).

You can divert to another number. If you cancel the diversion
altogether, Telstra will just redivert it as it is now.
The two free Telstra PP+ diversion destinations that I'm aware
of are +61418707111 and +61418707316. I've got mine set to the
first, which I think just says you can't be reached (but I'm
not sure which is which).
Other than that, the best you can achieve is setting the time to
divert an unanswered call to the maximum (30 seconds). If your
handset doesn't let you configure this directly, see
http://www.mobileshop.org/usertech/gsmcodes.htm for the codes
to set it up.

Messy, costs money and calling 125111 is not guaranteed to work. Operator
intervention often results in unintended other actions being taken and of
course you'll be served with a marketing message or two as well.
Those two numbers ARE reliable and you can adjust the time your phone rings
before the diversion happens by typing *61*diversion no*xx# where xx is the
number of seconds that you want your phone to ring. I think the max is 30
sec.

ahhh you just answered my other question
i called 125111 about two weeks ago as i couldnt get WAP/GPRS/shite to work
on my fiancees phone
The thing was pretty smart, I said GPRS and it responded with "So you want
data . . . " etc, but then went to tell me that WDCS was shut . . .
I called back as i wanted just 125111 to see whether the service was set up
.. . . i told the thing to "f*ck up" and it responded with "so you have a
complaint . . ."
or something similar!
so it knows that "f*ck off" means!!!

Do you send your number when you call 125111 or do you say it to the IVR?
If no to either, then the system doesnt know who you are, so you end up at
stock standard 125111
