View Full Version : mobile reception
my mobile phone reception varies at home (where i work )to the point
that my phone disconnects calls and misses calls etc.
i am with telstra and use motorola V600 phone it seems to have got
worse since recently switching to telstra although with optus it wasnt
that much better previously. im in a suburban area of brisbane and can
often get better reception at one end of my house - any suggestions or
gadgets to improve my reception ?

Make sure that the problem isnt the phone
by seeing what others get in your house.
Does the handset work well outside the house ?
If it does, see how Vodafone works in your house,
by getting a RedSim starter if necessary.

This option becomes much more workable if you have a Bluetooth
phone and headset. Nominal headset range is 10 metres, but my
Siemens S55 works at well over that, even through a couple of
walls.

hi guys thanks heaps for all your suggestions :)
i have bluetooth on the V600 so will investigate the antenna options as
the bluetooth headset and handset work very well when im out driving.
Just to clarify this option - are you suggesting i fit an antenna to
the car and operate the phone via headset with the phone left in the
car ?

I'll let Simon correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he meant
fitting a basic car kit to the house. I've done that - an
outside whip antenna wired to an antenna cradle within the
house.
But you might not need to go that far. You might find a spot in
the house where the phone works well as is. Park it there and
use Bluetooth to where you want to hold the conversation.

Thanks again simon and john much appreciated - will post back and let
you know how things work out.
