It is the late 1960’s and the world is changing – revolution is in the air and free-spirited hippy, Faith O’Connor (Cameron Diaz) wants to experience life to the full. She leaves her comfortable middle class home and embarks on a reckless voyage of discovery that will take her to Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris and finally Portugal. And that is the last time her family hears from her.
Now six years later, Faith’s younger sister, Phoebe (Jordana Brewster) decides to follow her footsteps – retracting each dramatic episode in her life to try and put the puzzle of her disappearance together.
But what she uncovers will rock her very existence – Who was the sister she thought she knew? What trouble was she really involved in? And, what really happened on that lonely Portugese cliff?

The invisible circus is an evocative, mysterious and emotionally powerful journey through the lives of two women – one obsessed with the past and one trying to understand the future.
From the producers of "QUILLS", "ANTITRUST"and "FIFTEEN MINUTES", the Director of "ALMOST YOU" and starring Christopher Eccleston (The Others), Blythe Danner (Meet The Parents) and Patrick Bergin (Eye Of The Beholder).

AUDIO/VISUAL

The Invisible Circus has only one audio track which is in Dolby Digital 5.1
Quality is not a problem here with speech being easy to follow and always in sync and the music sounding very good indeed and never over bearing.
The front sound stage is broad and strong with very subtle effects and occasional minor background sounds in the rears.
This isn't the kind of movie to test your audio system out, but the audio is very good for what is needed in this case.

The Invisible Circus looks superb on this DVD and I have no doubt that most people will be able to watch this and have no concerns about the picture quality.
It has an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen and is 16:9 enhanced.
On show here is a very clean and smooth image. There were no real signs of imperfections such as grain, blemishes etc and the image is very well detailed and sharp.
Colours are very strong and vibrant which really do make some of the scenes very striking and beautiful. Flesh tones are very natural in appearance and blacks are spot on.
Another quality offering from Roadshow Entertainment.

OVERALL

When The Invisible Circus turned up for review, I instantly had 2 words for it..."Chick Flick".
This is one that the wife was going to review so I left it to her. Don't get me wrong, as I did want to watch it, but I did have the "Chick Flick" thoughts sitting in this thick head of mine and was wondering how I'd go til the end. Well, I sat back and watched and watched and watched.....
This movie draws you in and keeps you watching til the end. It really is a good movie.
The combination of good acting, an involving story and some beautiful locations make this one a winner.
Viewers won't be let down by the audio/visual quality of this movie. That's for sure.
The DVD does lack extra features with only a trailer being offered, but the movie itself and the quality of the audio/visuals definitely make it value for money and keep you entertained for a good 89 minutes.
The Invisible Circus has a RRP of $34.95 and is available from Feb 20.
