Can anyone tell me if I can connect my CDMA mobile to my Laptop to access
the Internet. (using the Laptops modem or WiFi)

Yes you can with a data capable cdma mobile.

You dont use either of those. The cdma
mobile provides the connection to the net.

The answer in most cases would be yes. You do not need the in-build
modem or WIFI to connect via your mobile. You either connect the mobile
phone to the serial port via a cable or use bluetooth to connect to your
mobile. Depends on the Phone. What phone are you talking about ?
The in-built modem on the notebook is usually for dialing out on POT
landlines and if you have WIFI coverage and access then I suggest using
that - much faster and cheaper in most cases than CDMA.

Infra-red seems the logical way if your notebook has an IR port.
