<I>Who delivers ten times out of ten? Samuel L. Jackson is Shaft, the man and the movie. John Singleton (Boyz 'N' The Hood), directs this gritty action packed thriller.
With Uncle John Shaft (Richard Roundtree reprising his original role) as mentor, it's no surprise that today's Shaft is the coolest dude and the hottest action around.
To stop a racist killer (Christian Bale) Shaft's got to track down the only eyewitness that can put him behind bars (Toni Colette). As Shaft closes in, so does the danger. Armed with attitude and up against corrupt cops and venomous druglords he's out to make crime pay up.</i>

<b>Audio/Visual….</b>
<b>Shaft</b> is a 2.35:1, 16:9 enhanced feature.
As to be expected with a recent release movie, this DVD really does look good and has a flawless video transfer. It's a very clean picture with fantastic colours and shading and can't be faulted.
The only other thing I could say is that the layer change was very noticeable, but did happen at the end of a scene though.
<B>Shaft</b> has both English and French 5.1 audio tracks. I obviously watched it in English as my grasp of the French language is pretty non existent.
The audio was clear, and the speech was easy to follow at all times.
This movie has plenty action that includes its fair share of gunshots, breaking glass, cars and of course, that music.
All speakers are used well and the front soundstage worked well with the support of the rears.
The sub is also used well and hums along nicely with some low bass in places with the occasional thump. Overall, it's nicely done audio/visually.

<B>Extra features…..</b>
<LI><I>Theatrical Trailer.</i>- Presented in widescreen.
<LI><I>"Shaft: Still the man" - Making of Featurette. </I> This 16 minute 'making of' features clips from the movie and behind the scenes and has interviews as well, but you'll see a lot of the interview content in the " Cast & Crew interviews" extra feature as well.
<LI><I>Cast & Crew interviews</i>. - Is exactly that and is 13 minutes of interviews with the cast and director talking about the way they made the film.
<LI><I>"Theme from Shaft" -Isaac Hayes Music Video.</I> - A new music video for Shaft done by Issac Hayes of course.
<LI><i>"Bad Man" R. Kelly Music Video..</i> - Complete music video featuring R. Kelly.

<B>Overall…..</b>
Reviewing this DVD is actually the first time I've had a chance to view this movie and a was not disappointed. Shaft is cool and so is this movie. Samuel L. Jackson plays the nephew of the original John Shaft and is perfect for the role. The movie kicks off to a great start with the "Shaft" theme which sets you in the mood for a good action flick headed by one cool dude.
The DVD has plenty of action, a beautiful transfer and is well worth a look.

Thanks for reading…
