Hmm I thought everyone on the north shore was rich, but I don't really know
much about Sydney.

Know this: Even on the north shore, you'll have a *lot* of
trouble getting $5500 for a sixteen year old hairdressers
car, even if it is a 'special edition'.

I hate to have to regurgitate this stuff, but i've seen standard SX
celica's going for $7600, my dumbass of a friend payed $11,000 all up
for his last year (with financing and insurance that is)
Anyway i've seen em go for as low as $1500 with an oil leak up to
$15,000 for the GT4 turbo version (yes in that body shape)
the white lightning would easilty fetch $5500 on say www.toymods.org.au
(provided it's in decent nick)
I often see oldish toyota's (86-92) going for more $$ then other makes
of cars much newed in the car yards. (last time was a 96 lancer which
was half the price of a 87 celica SX at this particular car yard)

An '87 Celica in good nick is probably twice the car that a '96 Lancer
in good nick is. The '87 [ST16x] is probably the best
naturally-aspirated model of Celica they ever sold in Australia, in fact.

The White Lightning is an ST162 - the last of the straight-bodied

I'm not 100% sure what cut and shut means, but if it's something about
making a car out of the parts of several cars, then come and see this
car and *I* will give *YOU* $5000 if you can prove your crazy
allegation.
I have no idea why anyone would talk such crap about the car esp having
only seen one photo of it. Is there a reason for making up crap about
someone's car ad?
For the record, it's completely stock, well cared for, and in excellent
nick.

Cut and shut means cutting two damaged shells somewhere in the
middle (typically windscreen pillars and across front floor)
and joining a good front and good rear to make a good shell out
of two damaged ones. I've certified some that are done by
experienced panel beaters and would have no reservations about
owning a good one.
Like calling someone "gay", this is intended to be a derogatory
statement.

I'll explain it for you.
aus.cars is a _discussion_ group, not a for-sale group. The fact
that you've posted to aus.ads.forsale indicates that you've tried
to post to the correct place, but there is actually a correct
group for your ad, aus.ads.forsale.cars... By posting a for sale
ad to a discussion group, you've basically alienated almost every
pesron in that group - not a productive way of advertising a car!
