Hi

I have been researching Plasma TV's for a few weeks now and I think I have decided to purchase the Pioneer 50".

The best price I have been quoted is $8,800 from Rick Hart and that is on 12 months finance. Can anyone please tell me where I could get a better price than this?

What HD STB does everyone suggest. I have been informed that the Toshiba SD25 is a good box but also that the LG is a good one.

Apparently DVI is the best connection however the Pioneer does not support this....does this matter a great deal?

Also I do not have a HDMI compliant DVD player, does this matter a great deal.

What cables are the best and so what do I need to purchase.

Many thanks in advance.

You should be really happy with the Pioneer. By all accounts they are the
best plasma
Looks like you have already done your homework on HD boxes. LG seem to have
got it right on this product.
As far as cables go.... just purchase good quality cables.

Do some reading here http://www.dtvforum.info for more info.

Hi Arry

I have the Tosh s25 hooked up to mine, great picture, just make sure you get
the current software that fixes the channel freezing bug.

I presume you are referring to the Pioneer STB not supporting DVI rather
than the plasma? (as the plasma does I'm sure).
I too was weighing up the Pioneer 50" vs the NEC 50" but elected to go for
NEC. I found picture quality to be the same, but the NEC at just a shade
over $7K was too hard to pass up. The Pioneer though is a very attractive
unit though.
Consider the Teac HD STB. I haven't found many people to have a bad word to
say about them, and now at about $350 they are great value compared to other
units.
Cheers.
