View Full Version : DVD R/W drive firmware upgrading?

Is it true that you can only upgrade the drive firmware by booting into DOS
mode, as in DOS 6.22 or Win 95 DOS mode? I don't have a boot floppy for either
of those, so is their another way?

No it is not true..
there are plenty of "windows" type loaders for most drives as far as I've
seen..

Some have Windows front ends, I tend to prefer good old DOS myself ;)

You can always grab what you need here in terms of boot disks

No. I upgrade mine from within WinXP.

To update my Pioneer writer all I did was download the app from Pioneer and follow
the instructions - as a Windows ignoramus/hater if I can do it then your five year
old could do it.
