Wireless AV that will work with Foxtel Digital

Hi all,

My not so helpful Foxtel friends are telling me that I can have an access point in my 3 year olds bedroom but I've gotta pay to get it anywhere else (it's a long & tedious story...) we are renting, don't want black cable running around half our apartment, etc. Questions are...

Is there a decent wireless av system that will work with Foxtel Digital? Initial investigations lead me to believe that most of them won't as it uses different connection types to the old Foxtel analog.

Want something that will plug straight into the Foxtel box, change channels remotely, etc, so I don't have to put a tv in my kids room.

I've seem adds for kit in the US that looks like they might be OK but can't find local distribution & I have no idea if they would work with our local cable systems anyway

Dick Smith have then on special at th emoment for $79. I used mine on analogue before I upgraded to digital. Works up to about 25 meters. It has a remote sender and I bought a Dick Smith cheap remote as well.

jdbne - are you saying you only used it when you were analog or that you used it analog & are still using it now you are digital?? Thanks.

I've just been down to Dick Smith - they tell me their wireless av kit doesn't work with Foxtel Digital stu & that Foxtel now add some kind of scrambling mechanism into their stu's to specifically stop wireless av.

I am using it as we speak. I go from the 2nd scart connection of the foxtel digital box to the av inputs on the av sender. Works a treat. The remote sender also works great with a cheap $19 remote I picked up. I bought it a DS, It is a gigaair brand.

The scrambling stuff relates to the HBO if you are trying to record it so I'm told on a PVR. I believe you can record HBO on an analogue TV card in a computer though..

So buy it and if it doesn't work return it. Smith's have a great returns
policy
