View Full Version : Home cinema system with Sky+ and DVD Recorder

I have Sky+ installed and have bought a Pioneer DCS222 DVD home cinema
system which only allows playback of DVD-R/RW discs and also bought a Matsui
DVD recorder which only allows playback of DVD+R/RW. My questions are
1) Is the Matsui compatible to record off sky+?
3) If I can record off Sky+ onto DVD+R/RW will the sound still come through
the Pioneer system whilst the disk is in playback mode in the
recorder?
4) Is it best to have to different formats of DVD players?or should they be
the same playback type?
4) If all is not well has anyone any ideas on what Home cinema system and
DVD recorder work best with Sky+?
Any help would be appreciated as they might have to go back to the shop!!

Firstly, almost all modern DVD players will play both formats. We have a
Philips DVDR725H which only records on DVD+R/RW but it will play +, -, and a
host of other formats as well.
Secondly, I think you may have misunderstood the "+" in Sky+. Because the
system is called Sky+ it doesn't mean that it needs a DVD recorder capable
of recording in the + format. Sky+ is just a name. You should be able to use
any DVD recorder with it.

Hmm. I wonder why you didn't just buy one DVD recorder and a decent
amp/speaker system instead?

Anything that can record can record from Sky+. Ideally any DVDR device
that you buy should have RGB in and out, to get the best signal
quality.

I don't really understand the question. Do you mean that if you put an
unreadable disk in the Matsui will it output the sound only? If so,
the answer is no. However, as mentioned, you may well find that both
units will in fact play back both sorts of disk, even if the Matsui
will only record on one sort.

Why have two at all? I just don't understand this. What exactly are
you trying to achieve?

Any will work. Get RGB in/out as mentioned above. There can be issues
with widescreen switching with some brands/models.

And why have questioned why they are numbered 1,3,3,4 when they were
numbered
1,3,4,4 ?
just noticed that actually. I guess you could call that late notice,
did anyone
else notice that or did it go un-noticed. maybe we need more notice on
a notice that could go un-noticed.

Because like you he made a mistake, his questions are actually numbered
1,3,4,4 not 1,3,3,4 as you said.
