I think it is great we now have access to aus.dvd and aus.photo from EYO. Not sure what everyone thinks but I reckon we could use aus.audio-visual.home-cinema too, as it is fairly relevant to the discussions here. Only downside is those techy types tend to waste too much time flaming each other.... lets lobby mr nsu..

I agree it is a good idea, I also agree about the time wasting posts.
the only other problem is that for people that check eyo forums around 3-4 times a week. When they log in they will get probably 8-10 pages if not more of new posts which could be annoying and they may leave because of it. A solution may be to have extra flags in the account page to say weather or not you want posts to appear from gateways or not. Perhaps say do you want access to the gateways or not?
Another issue maybe where do you stop, how many other groups are applicable.
Regarding dvd.photo, I personally didn't see too much relevance to eyo forums, the only real connection is that both DVDs and digital cameras use binary data. Another connection maybe that eyo sells these produts, I havn't checked this though.
why was dvd.photo included as a gateway?
thanks

I asked nsu if he could include that, among others. Photography is a GREAT hobby, complements DVD watching perfectly... :PI
Good point re the posts, I never use show all new threads anymore, too labourious.

Ahh, I was wondering why aus.photo was included, but now I know your the puppetmaster behind the scenes, its all coming together
Wouldn't mind if a couple of the gaming systems newsgroups where included, maybe you could pull a few more strings?
:p :D
I like the implemetation of the search for new posts and search with newsgroups included. I can go back to checking the forums with the search facility now.
:) :)
Ok, photography happened to be one of my interest. I feel guiltless when someone suggested to me(quite a while back).:)
aus.audio-visual.home-cinema
sounds like something very interesting. I will check them out. If the spam/flaming towards good post ratio is low, then I will add it.
I will also check the gaming groups.
Now, where do we end? there are so many "relevant" groups out there. Naturally having too many usenet groups is not a good idea. I think the maximum we want to have is 4,5. If something really good comes along, then we might have to drop one or two. What do you think about aus.tv? Perhaps now it is the time to tell if you think one group is better to have than the other.:)
With the new "View New Forum Posts" thingo, I hope I won't get into too much trouble by having aus.photo.:) Well, for a while.

Good stuff nsu.:)
Even though they get some real idiots posting in aus.tv, I'll still put in my vote for it. :dD

Slightly off topic, but it's nice to see that there is now the option of viewing new posts without the aus. posts. I don't post here that often but I do read here daily and was finding it frustrating with all the posts in these new groups. Anyone that complains about over zealous moderators needs to look through all the unmoderated junk that ends up in there. To whoever decided to split up the view new posts option, THANKS

nsu, all sounds good, isn't aus.tv broken up into several sub groups? there is only one av group, at least that should be easier to setup?? as for flaming idiots, can you kill file them and their irrelevant drivel??
By the way, I doubt anyone would be too worried about what you choose to include, we should think ourselves lucky to have newsgroup access via EYO.

Thanks for the split up of the new posts links. Now im all for adding more groups.
I think the tv one would be good to add and relevant as digital TV is becoming more popular and you need TVs to watch DVDs :dD
thanks
