That's what I thought. I am not familiar with what has gone on in the world
of Hi-Fi companies in the last 5 years, but I know Strathfield sell Sansui
and it's not the same high quality Japanese Sansui I knew in the late 70's
and early 80's - they have been bought out and the only thing that seems to
be the same is the name - the products are definately in the cheapie basket
now, but probably better than some of the OEM rubbish that Strathfield sell
on occasion.

I fear AR has gone the same way - they used to make fantastic speakers and
were truly innovative in their first time. I don't know if they've sold out,
are diversifying by utilising cheap Chinese manufacturing, or what?, but I
don't think there is a lot that can go wrong with a OEM internals HD DTV
box.

I could be wrong, but even so, at that price it proves a couple of things to
me:
1) It's attractive at that price point regardless of it's origins (OEM parts
or not) and 2) HD (High Definition) doesn't have to equal HD (High
Dollars) - I'd be satified if there were more cheapie HD receivers flooding
the market here and then may-be the major manufacturers can stop charging
more than $500 for something little more complicated than a $199 SD box.

I think the price of HD STB's is outrageous, but that's just penny pincher
me ;)
