Hi,
1/ Are the RGB which as I understand it the video 3 coloured cables, better than S-Video?
2/ I did buy a set of cables that have scart on one end and two sets of RGB plugs at other end, got it from Jaycar, but due to where the RGB inputs are on my Rear Proj TV, cable is not long enough.
It is only 1 metres long, is there a longer one or extention cable for it?
Also is there a converter than I can then plug the other set into a DVD recorder?
Thanks
Phil

By 'RGB' I take it you mean the 'Component' connection (Y/Pb/Pr) . Yes it is
'better' than Svideo.

Does your TV accept an 'RGB' signal or a 'Component' signal? The two are
similar but incompatible, usually the 'RGB' signal needs separate sync input
usually 1, sometime 2.

If your TV set accepts an RGB signal and your recorder accepts an RGB SCART
signal you are better off getting a SCART switchbox, so you can use the
single output from your DVD player to go both to your TV and to your DVD
recorder.

Confusingly, component video also uses red, green and blue colour-coded
cables. Check whether your devices input/output RGB video or Component
video - they are not interchangeable and require an expensive converter to
connect between them. Scart is just a plug, so check what your device
outputs to it - it may be selectable from a menu for composite, s-video, RGB
or component. Often Euro products will support RGB rather than component...
local/asian gear will most likely run Component.
RGB and Component are similar qualities, and unless you have a really crappy
TV, you'll see a much smoother range of tones/colours with modest cables.
You can get extension cables, but generally it's worth paying more and
getting a one piece solution - less contacts and less to go wrong!
