Hi all,

I have just replaced the water pump in a KE Laser and have a few questions.

As I did not have the luxury of working on the engine out of the vehicle, I
have left the plastic cowlings that normally go over the timing belt off -
is this a problem?

What is the best way to get the timing belt back on to the cam pulley? I
have marked the original position so that isn't a problem (I hope!) My
current plan is to sit the belt in some hot water to make it more flexible
and (hopefully) expand it a bit to make it fit - is the OK to do? The
tensioner is adjusted back as far as it can go - should I take it off
completely to fit the belt?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Cam

Invest in a workshop manual.

If you've removed the old belt and are going to refit it, then you have to
put it back on so it rotates in the same direction as it originally did, or
you're likely to see it snap before long. It sounds like you need to find
the tensioner so you can loosen it to get the belt on properly.

A manual will help.

Do as Noddy said, except I'll just recommend that you replace the timing
belt as well unless you know for sure that it isn't very old.
