Ok I'm looking for a set of speakers to go with my Onkyo SR501 amp.

I've looked at so far

JBL SC2606.5 RRP $999, I can get it from around $500 direct from JBL.
Or the 2606.6 for $100 more.

Wharfedale Pacific 30 Fronts, pacific 10 rear, pacific centre. $800 for
centres + rear & $900 for the fronts.

DB Dynamics Vega 45 pack with sub , RRP $2059 my price, around $940

So far i've heard all and been quite happy.

I watch alot of dvd's, and listen to music.

I run a projector setup, so need some advic e.

Hi e ,
Do your self a favour and have a listen to some real speakers.Whatmough , an
Adelaide based company with an excellent reputation have a 5.1 package
available through quality hi-fi shops and , of all places, Harvey Norman.
The pack sells for $2499 at HN and can be had in Perth for as little as
$2100.
The pack looks great and has a sound that the imports can't match.
Ican't remember the name of the package ,so just google Whatmough , if you
are interested.

do yourself a favour and forget all the stuff at JB Hi-Fi.

go and listen to some decent stuff at HiFi shops.

Better yet, make sure some of your listening is of Aussie made speakers.

Whatmough, yes I have heard of them and they seem very impressive.

Opinions of the JBL's though? So far i've struggled finding anything in
ENGLISH about them.

I've heard a set and was impressed for their size.

Other speakers I liked were the JBL E60's fronts, EC25 centre, E20
rears, E150 sub. Once again I can get straigth from JBL for much
cheaper than RRP.

That's probably the Encore system. I have it and love it.
