Hello
About to get a dual lpg/petrol car.

Just a couple of questions if I may.

When changing from petrol/lpg and lpg/petrol just a matter of flicking
a switch, but the good old "someone" told me you should let the petrol
be used up in the lines etc before switiching to lpg.

At the pump, does the lpg auto cut off or can you stop at any time? I
presume you can cut off whenver, but I gather there is/would be an auto
cutoff.

Thanks for help.

Not sure about the new ones but with all LPG cars I have driven it is best
to let the petrol run out and as soon as the car starts to flutter from lack
of fuel switch to LPG. This may differ in EFI cars but all the ones I have
driven have been non-EFI.

At the pump you can stop whenver you like. When the tank reaches its maximum
amount it will cut off automatically. I think this is around 80% of tank
size from memory.

Many thanks for reply. So I am I right in going from LPG to Petrol, just
flick the switch. Vehicle is non-EFI, so your comments are much
appreciated.

It depends on if it's a carburetted or fuel injected engine.

Engines absolutely *hate* a mixture of both petrol and lpg, so if it's got a
carburettor you'll need to flick the switch into "neutral" until the float
bowl empties and it "runs out" of petrol before changing to gas. If it's an
EFI equipped engine, then the switch-over is almost immediate, and there's
no need to "run the petrol lines clear", so to speak.

All switching from one fuel to another should be done with the throttle
closed, unless you like the sound of major backfires....

All modern lpg tanks have a fill limiter valve that limits filling to 80% of
their water capacity (which is the total liquid capacity of the tank) to
allow for expansion. You can put as much or as little as you like in the
tank until you reach this point.

Depends if its got a carby or EFI.
"Someone" is correct if its got a carby.

Tank has an "automatic fill limiter" which will cut out the pump at
approx 80% full.
You can stop it earlier if you want.

Yep, just makesure you're going downhill or won't need the throttle, nothing
like stalling at an intersection and cranking til the fuel comes through.
