Magic engine.
But
GM is STILL geared up to build a FWD Commode, and won't play the L6
game here any time soon.
With them and Ford it's whoever blinks first, because the first to do
the FWD shaft on Au will be in the doldrums while their marketing
jerkoffs convince the wood-ducks it is a Good Thing - which process
will cost considerably.
No matter though, the decreased cost of production will win in the end
and simplified future model planning will win out in the end.
And then there's the matter of reduced public liability premiums:-)

Erm no there isn't any plans for a FWD commode since the new RWD Zeta
platform is going to be used. No one would want to buy a V8 commode if it
has FWD sales will drop like the Magna's. GM in the states is slowly
bringing RWD cars into the field of things. For the Holden and Ford nuts out
there if Holden and Ford changed their RWD cars to FWD the outcome is going
to be ugly.

You clearly miss GM Australia's whole philosophy. Keep on soldiering
on with an old design that was not even particularly powerful or refined
in it's day, and just tweak it a bit to fit into emissions regulations.
Same goes with their body design philosophy....just change the
headlights, grill, tail lights and add some weird creases in the
sheetmetal, and on one will know it's not a VN...

Yep, instead of pooring millions into research to get 5kw by fidly high
tech, they just bore/stroke her out a bit and make some cheap minor
improvements. But don't let us stop you paying an extra $5k for a vehicle
with a new high tech shiney wizz bang unproven motor that will only save you
$2k in fuel during the 2 years you own it.

Come on Pat
someone has to prove the new Ford engine, it seems to be going fine, and
why is it loosers with VN/VP with spoilers want to race me all the time,
and lose if I'm in the mood
my car is basic XT, it has an XR6/8 boot spoiler and 17x8 alloys and
thats it
anyone know of common things that go wrong with the BA
I've seen the drivers seat base, door, kick panel and console plastic
problems
had the bonnet release break, common so Ford tell me
the crappy drink holder lid
now we are having the heater core inside replaced, and possibly the
carpet if it is ruined by the smell of coolent leaking onto it
all this is under warrenty of course, but still
have these problems been fixed with the series II?

When the 4A-GE Corolla motor produced 100kW out of 1.6L in the late 80's????
I know we have tougher emission regs now but geeez.
205kW from 4.2L is nothing to get a fat over... regardless of the (OK)
torque figure.
1100Hp from TRD's 2.3L Celica GT4 motor (stroked and forced induction yes I
know) in 1995... thats excitement.
Over 600Hp per litre from my R/C race car 2 stroke on methanol / 30%
nitro.... thats excitement.

Why did motorbikes want to race my Econovan? :-)
I'm talking engines in general really.
Fords have traditionally had a good strong driveline even if it's not the
fastest, nothing else would survive my Dads lack of maintenance and neglect
for so long.
