However through the use of usb software I dont see why you cant run a usb hard drive off ps2v12.
Thanks, i did see that adaptor before but i thought it was only compatible with the non-slim PS2 units.

Hey guys, i called quantronics up and they were really helpful. That adapter wont work with slimlines, they said you need hdconnect or to use a the usb extreme software, which will work on all playstation 2s, not just slim ones. They told me that you need a usb hard drive case which you can get from a computer store and the software which you can buy with them. The hdconnect is something that is soldered in or something, but i thought i would let you know

The usb extreme works with your computer and playstation 2, so as long as the computer can read the game, you can play it on your ps2, so no chip needed

    Laser problems with mods, etc.

Can anyone tell me, is it just an unavoidable problem that using a mod chip with burned games is going to result in the laser burning out very quickly? If it is possible to deal with this, how? (and at what cost?)

Also, where would you recommend getting a mod chip installation done in the Sydney area (or Wollongong, if that's possible).

I can't do this as I'm out of the country now, it would be my sister getting it done, and she's not the type to open up her console and go at it with a soldering iron, if you know what I mean.

    thanks!

    Hey all,

Can anyone direct me to a good site for the PSP mod chips.. I bought a PSP from Japan a few weeks ago while on holidays. Therefore from what I have found up to now I may not be able to play games from Australia? I have only just started looking so I maybe be incorrect... Any help would be great.

    Thanks

    PSP's have mod chips now?

To answer your question, you'll be able to pay games fine, they are not region locked, meaning any Europe, U.S, Australian games will play fine on your japanese psp.
You'll only run into problems when it comes to watching UMD's. These follow the same rules as DVD region coding.

    Gap or No Gap Install?

    Hi everyone,

I have a PS2 (ver 4) and the magic 3 chip ready for install. When searching the 'how to install' on the net it comes up with two methods. Gap or No Gap?

Can anybody explain what this means, and what the difference is?

Appologies if this has been brought up before, but nothing came up in my search.

    Cheers

I spoke to CavernImports the other day and they were saying they have a mod chip for the psp now and then you use the USB port to use an external 40gig drive... By the sounds about $300-350...(can't remember exactly.)

Either way I am very happy with the job he did on my xbox... The guy seems pretty switched on with his own mod software that he wrote.

That refers to the BIOS chip
Look at the pins to see whether there is a gap in the middle of the row of pins

I need help. i installed magic switch in my slimline ps2 70002. i glued down the sensor at the back internaly, but i lost a piece of plastic in the guts. so i turned it upside down and gave it a little shake and a thin square bit of metal with a screw hole in the centre fell out. now it wont detect discs. the rest works fine. HELP!!!!!!!. i will reward someone who helps me get it working again with a genuine ps2 game. seriously. i need to know how to fix it. where does the meatl go and does it cause this problem.

The square piece of metal is the screw hole placeholder
It can be either the on for the back of the console or the bottom
It is used to screw in external devices - eg slimline vertical stand
The disc detect issue might be due to a laser issue when you were banging it around to get the piece out

Either way I can fix it for you
    I am located in Sydney

the sensor is nothing but an on/off micro switch. you can simply bridge the switch and this will do no harm to your PS2.
    Unlimited Armo?
Just complete the game and start a new one.

Hi I don't normally visit the forums here. I just like to ask anyone who has the Matrix Infinity Mod Chip installed.

Recently I had to replace my laser module as my old slim pstwo (model no. SCPH-70002) laser is worn out.

If anyone has managed to install the Infinity Manager properly and are able to install some boot files onto the memory card that would be great as I'm experimenting on installing some sort of HD Loader to run games off the usb hdd.

Currently the Infinity's Mod site allows all slimline ps2 to run ps2 games off the usb hdd and I'm not sure if My external usb hdd detects it and allows it to be installed. My drive is a Samsung MPH0402 40GB Capacity.

The infinity firmware has been updated to the latest version (v1.93 at time of writing)

Whats the go with modchips these days?

I'm after a cheap PS2 modchip just to run backups and stuff and was wondering what is available.

Is it worth getting a Swap Magic kit?
