Thanks for the feedback on XB Connect Michael. That sounds quite usable, especially as uncapped broadband and ADSL 2/2+ becomes more widespread. I'm currently getting 6048/928 on my iiNet ADSL1 connection

Of course the other advantage of things like XB Connect is that it doesn't matter if or how your console is modded and it doesn't matter if your game is copied.

Sounds like you are getting pretty hooked again now with the xbox comphelp.. Maybe you should keep hold of your xbox a little longer with all the new openings!!

    xbox aladdin chips

I have just sent my xbox off to be upgraded with a 160gig HDD and aladdin chip(only chip they supply and install). I have been reading a few bad reviews on the aladdin and that some installers have been getting "bad batches". Does anybody know anything more about these chips?

Any reputable place would offer a guarantee on their products and workmanship so if you get a dud chip, it should be replaced.

I've been reading throught the XBConnect website and it looks really good. Doesn't seem to cost anything to be a normal level user.. and the upgrade is only USD$15... I am guessing this is each year but nothing is said on the site!

Am I reading it correctly that you have to play it through your pc?

I am just a little lost with the comment on the site:

I am running wireless, what do I need to know?

When using XBConnect, both the Xbox and the computer can not be wireless. If the computer is wireless, the Xbox must be connected to the computer with a crossover cable and setup Windows ICS. If you are using the wireless adapter for the Xbox, have it plugged in and go into XBConnect Options - General options and check mark "Mac translation for Wet11".

Yes. The PC pretends to be another XBox and instead sends the data over the Internet to the other PC at the other end and the PC sends it to the other XBox. Basically the PCs and the Internet replace a direct connection between the 2 XBoxes. Well from what I've read, that's how it works. I haven't used it.

I don't know about the wireless stuff though. Does that apply to you?

Not at this stage... I have got a wireless setup at the moment for my PC's.. But would love to have the wireless running for my xbox since it is setup upstairs... Since I haven't run any cables as my first network is the one I have now which has always been wireless.. It would be good to continue with that!

It should be all good. The problems occur right away so unless the place is real dodge your xbox will be fine. There is so many clones of the aladdins which is why some of these problems are occuring.

I have been using duox 2 chips and have not had any problems.

    xbox X Box Mod Query.

Hi there, i just wondered if anyone can help me in choosing the right mod chip for my x box and also i would like to upgrade my Hardrive to 120GB.

My friend in the UK has the Executer chip which he rates highly, but i have been looking at the DuoX2. Could anyone tell me the differences between the 2 in really simple terms? And also the pro's and con's if any?

With regards to upgrading my hardrive, i have seen this one below for sale and wondered if it would be suitable.
    Seagate 12OG Barracuda 7200.7 Hard Drive ATA100
    Number:ST3120022A
    Capacity:120 GB
    Speed:7200 rpm
    Seek time:8.5 ms avg
    Interface:Ultra ATA/100
Are there any hardrives to stay clear of?? And which are the best??

Sorry for all the questions, its just i would like my X Box to be treated to the best materials as i'm sure you understand.
Many thanks for your help in advance all.

Smile 2 simple questions for the right people.

    Hello

Just wondering on 2 little things related to a chip and a cd.
    1) can i put another chip in if there is already one in it?
    2) i just got gta san andreas! (yes!!) but theres a big problem (cd has a couple of scratches and it like gets to the last point I saved but then when I go outside from the house i own it says the disc is dirty or damaged). What I am asking is, is it worth gambling with a scratch repair kit (do they work?) or get a new gta san andreas? Thanks

I'm into softmods so I can't comment on your chips.

Seagate make very good drives. I've also yet to come across a Seagate drive that isn't lockable in an XBox (so you can still run MS Dash).

Given you are prepared to buy another copy, what have you got to lose?

Also, if your XBox is modded make sure you copy it to your hard drive so it doesn't happen again.

    Reason....

Reason why i want the chipped changes is because its a chip that plays burnt games on a DVD-R or something like that but what im trying to look for is a chip that stores the games on the hard drive so i dont get the scratched cd problem.

That's more to do with software on your XBox than the chip.

I take it when you got your chip installed they just installed the chip and didn't give you any software?

I can help if you are ever up in Perth.

The other thing it sounds like you will need is a larger hard drive. The standard 8/10GB drive only has about 4-5GB free. That's only enough space for one large game (more smaller ones). You can get a 160GB hard drive these days for about $140 so its quite good value.

Also, I suggest you don't talk about burnt games here. Eyo can not support piracy. Obviously there is a fine line between modding consoles and copying games (which is often why people mod consoles). The mods here will let you talk about modding but piracy talk is forbidden.

You wont need to put a chip in your xbox if it runs burnt games...what you need is some software. You can get this software either installed by someone that installs chips or you can do it yourself. The easiest way is to just download slayers installer 2.6 just do some searching and you will be able to find it. I would suggest having a read of some articles at xbox-scene.com for more info.
