Piracy talk it forbidden here but I can say that chip will bypass copy protection. It might be best to get the people who do the mod to do drive upgrade for you, otherwise you will lose the software.

if you can get the game onto your pc (via another modded xbox) using an ftp program, then you can transfer it over to your xbox's hdd by the same method. or possibly hooking the two xboxes up to each other and ftp from one to the other

any xbox modchip installers in northern tas?

Hi all I'm new here, I have a 1.0 xbox, and I'd like to get an Xecuter3 CE installed, only I know there's know way I'll be able to solder that well.

Is there anybody in Tasmania (in the north preferably) who could install it for me?

DVD drive gave out a few weeks ago so it is currently with Microsoft for repairs, but it should be back in about 4 weeks, and I would like to get the mod done then.

Word of advice...make very sure its not a clone.

As for install instructions, they are pretty much no different to any other chip on the market except for the bt wire.

    http://www.chipzone.com/installation...ddin/page1.cfm

There is a link showing where the bt wire is however there is a much easier point on the back of the board which I will try and find for you. With the chip you may have header pin or direct solder. Use either header pin or direct solder and only connect bt and d0.

To be honest with you there isnt really an easy way. There are so many different aladdins and clones out that you cannot really be sure. Don't get me wrong some clones are high quality and will work exactly the same as the original, however during my experiences with aladdins I have stopped using them as I was getting around 1 or 2 in 10 failure rate.

I would just try and find a reputable dealer and dont pay $5 for a chip, however in saying this I was following my own advice and still getting failures. If you havent bought the chip yet then maybe try something like a duox.

check the chip for poor quality parts, bad soldering, smudged printing, etc.

    XBox Mods In Brisbane

    Hi there,

Kind of new to all of this, and was wondering if someone might be able to help me with a couple of questions. I have been doing some reading and have ended up more confused on it all than when i started

Anyway, i have an XBox that i only use for the occasional game, but was wanting to have the mod done, so i can basically use it for MP3's and video files etc through the TV and surround system.

    What i was wondering is...
    1) What is the best type of mod for the requirements i have?
    2) Does anyone know of a good place in Brisbane where i could get it done and a larger hard drive installed?

    thanks

A soft-mod should do you nicely. They are cheaper than mod-chips so shouldn't cost you any more than $50. Most chips are $60-70. Just make sure that your mod installer is including all the software (in particular XBox Media Centre). XBMC is an awesome application and plays just about any audio or video you can throw at it

I'm in Perth so can't help but that sounds VERY expensive. What size was the hard drive?

If you are only wanting to really use it for mediacentre you might be interested in using a chip like smartxx or xecuter so you can get an lcd.

I have used the smartxx and last time I checked the lcd's were available from quantronics for about $50 they are 20x4 characters (need soldering).
